180 Jobs Complete!

Brisbane Region SES volunteers have completed 180 jobs since yesterday. The majority of these tasks have been for water leaking into living spaces.

How can you help the SES?

✅ Ensure gutters, downpipes and roof valleys are clear of debris
✅ Make sure your roof is in good repair

The photos below highlight some of the common issues our volunteers have encountered, including gutters blocked with debris and damaged roof tiles.

By taking a few simple steps to prepare your home, you can help reduce storm damage and allow SES volunteers to focus on those most in need.

🌧 STORM PREPARATION: Sandbags 🌧

Sandbags can reduce the amount of water that enters your property during storms. Residents are responsible for preparing their home.

Check out your local council sandbag information below to make sure you are storm ready.

By preparing, you free up SES volunteers to support those who are more vulnerable during severe weather.

Brisbane SES Unit have been out at the Brisbane Emergency Services Expo sharing how you can prepare for this storm season. They held info sessions on:

GUTTERS & ROOFS
🔸 Make sure your gutters are cleaned out
🔸 Check your down pipes
🔸 Make sure your roof is in good repair

SANDBAGS
🔸 Locations - Check out the Council Disaster Dashboard
🔸 Only fill them 2/3
🔸 Use plastic to stop the water flowing through

PACKING A KIT
🔸 Have an emergency kit stocked and ready

It's Get Ready Queensland Week!

Redland SES Unit, Moreton Bay State Emergency Service and Brisbane SES Unit volunteers were up bright and early Tuesday morning to catch the TODAY show.

They joined with Get Ready Queensland, Suncorp and our emergency partners to spread the word on getting ready for this upcoming severe weather season.

🏆First Responder Officer of the Year Awards - Moreton Bay 🏆

Moreton Bay State Emergency Service proudly attended the First Responder of the Year Awards.

The event was hosted by Morayfield & District Lions Club, Rotary Caboolture and Caboolture North Lions Club Inc - a special evening acknowledging the contribution of the emergency service within Moreton Bay.

Three Moreton Bay State Emergency Service volunteers were nominated for this award.

Get Ready Queensland Week starts next Monday!

Moreton Bay State Emergency Service got in early, taking part in the Bribie Island Emergency Services Expo last weekend.

They had a massive display showcasing SES capabilities including:
🔶 Flood Boats - for flood water rescue & resupply
🔶 Chainsaw - if trees are blocking access into/out of your home
🔶 Temporary roof repairs - if water is leaking into your living space
🔶 RPAS - for search support and reconnaissance for roof damage

There are plenty of ways you can Get Ready - start preparing your home now:
🌧 Clean your gutters & downpipes
🌴 Clear overhanging branches
🏚 Check your roof condition

Thank you to everyone in the community who came to have a chat about how they can prepare for this season.

Today, on National Police Remembrance Day, Brisbane Region SES acknowledges and honours the Queensland Police Service officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities.

We are grateful for the strong partnerships we share with QPS members across Brisbane and Queensland, working together during emergencies, disasters and times of need.

We remember those who have lost their lives in the line of duty and recognise the dedication and commitment of all serving police officers.

🎖Australian Honours and Awards🎖

Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland formally presented Redland SES Unit & Cleveland Group Leader Cindel Richardson, with the National Emergency Service Medal - For distinguished service as a member of an Australian emergency service.

Cindel has volunteered with the Queensland State Emergency Service for more than 20 years and plays an integral role at Redland SES Unit.
