Turning science into shared action 🌿💧
Sunwater recently joined agencies from across the Fitzroy to talk blue-green algae. Hosted by Fitzroy River Water and led by experienced researchers from Central Queensland Uni and Ecoscope Environmental, the workshop looked at the realities of blue-green algae in our waterways.
From understanding which species are present locally to exploring how cyanotoxins are managed under drinking water and recreational guidelines, the discussion was both practical and thought-provoking.
What stood out most was the power of collaboration. Managing water quality risks like blue-green algae isn’t something we can tackle alone but we can really shift the needle when operators, engineers, scientists and environmental practitioners come together to share knowledge, discuss challenges and align on action.
Workshops like this play a critical role in strengthening our collective capability and ensuring we continue to protect the health of our waterways and communities in Lower Fitzroy.
