National parks and other protected areas play a vital role in maintaining and protec
ting these amazing biodiversity and cultural values, for future generations. Queensland already boasts more than 1,000 national parks and other protected areas, five UNESCO World Heritage sites and five significant wetlands protected under the international Ramsar convention.
