Gallop over to the Johnson County Public Library at 11AM on Wednesday, September 9th for Kentucky’s pack horse Librarians Imagine, Learn, Grow Story Time! Did you know that the original bookmobiles of eastern Kentucky were actually teams of librarians who would ride horses through the hills and hollers to deliver their books? In fact, Johnson County was the first in the United States to use horse-librarian teams in this way, later inspiring an initiative lead by the First Lady of the United States.

Stop by this story time to enjoy learning about this topic through children’s books and a fun craft aimed at ages birth through Kindergarten. Anyone can drop into any story hour at any time. This program is free and open to all ages.

Mark your calendars and join us in Candyland for our first Imagine, Learn, Grow Story Time of the 2026-2027 season at 11AM on Wednesday, September 2nd at the Johnson County Public Library! We invite you to this royally sweet event where we will play, sing songs, read, and create a craft together. We will be hosting a new story time every week, so be sure to join us next time for another fun program. Anyone can drop into any story hour at any time. This program is free and open to all ages.
