🚧 WORK ALERT – PIKE COUNTY 🚧

Phelps maintenance crews will be performing roadside brush clearing along KY 194 in Pike County from Blackburn Bottom to Bevins Branch (milepoints 18.0–19.0) tomorrow, June 11th.

🗓 Work will take place during daytime hours June 11th
🕗 approx. 8 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Motorists should be prepared for possible traffic impacts while crews and equipment work along the roadway.

Please slow down, stay alert and use caution when traveling through the area to help keep both workers and drivers safe.

Thank you for your patience as we continue routine maintenance to improve visibility and maintain safe roadways.

🚧 TRAFFIC UPDATE – KY 979 BRIDGE PROJECT (FLOYD COUNTY) 🚧

KYTC District 12 is updating traffic plans for the upcoming KY 979 bridge replacement over Mud Creek.

GOOD NEWS: KY 979 will NOT close at the start of construction as originally planned. Instead, crews will first build a temporary onsite diversion to keep traffic moving through the area while bridge replacement work takes place.

🗓 Diversion construction begins early next week
⏳ Expected construction time: Approximately 2 weeks (weather permitting)

Once complete, traffic will shift onto the diversion while work begins on the existing bridge.

⚠️ WHAT TO EXPECT:
• Single-lane traffic controlled by temporary signals
• Alternating traffic flow
• Significant delays and congestion during peak travel times
• 12-foot width restriction (no wide loads)
• Construction vehicles and equipment entering/exiting the roadway
• Potential backups near the KY 3680 intersection

The existing bridge will remain open while the diversion is being built.

Drivers are reminded not to block the KY 3680 intersection, allow extra travel time and use caution in the work zone.

⚠️ TRAFFIC ALERT – LAWRENCE COUNTY ⚠️

KYTC District 12 advises motorists of an upcoming temporary closure on KY 3 South in Lawrence County for an emergency pipe replacement.

📍 Location: KY 3 at mile point 11.03 (just north of Vinson’s Sawmill)
📅 Tuesday, June 16
🕘 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (weather permitting)

Due to the type of repair work required, ALL traffic will need to use an alternate route during working hours.

Please plan ahead, allow extra travel time, and use caution in and around the work area as crews and equipment will be present.
