The Paintsville Recreation Center, located at 232 Preston Street, is open daily as a cooling center in collaboration with
Paintsville City Hall and Paintsville-Johnson County Emergency Management.

With extreme heat events forecast for this week, it will remain available to anyone who needs it.

Regular hours are Monday through Saturday, 8 AM to 4 PM.

For questions or directions, or to drop off water, please get in touch with the Recreation Center at 606-789-2612.

For emergency assistance after hours, please reach out to the following numbers:

- Paintsville-Johnson County EM Office: 606-789-2260

If you have an emergency, call 911.

In the event of a major power outage, the Recreation Center and local fire departments will be on standby to assist. See less

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of former Paintsville City Councilperson Sara Hopson Blair. Sara faithfully served the citizens of Paintsville on the City Council from 2013 to 2020, dedicating her time and efforts to the betterment of the community.
On behalf of Mayor Runyon, City Council, and employees of the City of Paintsville, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Sara’s family and friends during this difficult time.
