May is National Treatment Court Month, a time to recognize the life-changing impact Treatment Courts have on individuals, families, and our community.
This month, Butte County Drug Court participants celebrated recovery and giving back by participating in a park cleanup in Lower Bidwell Park. Through service, teamwork, and community involvement, participants demonstrated the positive changes that recovery can bring.
We are also proud to celebrate FOUR Drug Court graduates this month! Graduation represents dedication, accountability, resilience, and the commitment to building a healthier future.
Treatment Courts are crucial because they provide individuals struggling with substance use disorders the opportunity to receive treatment, structure, supervision, and support instead of continuing the cycle of addiction and incarceration. These programs help improve public safety, strengthen families, and create lasting positive change within our community.
Recovery deserves to be recognized and supported. Every milestone matters, and every success story is proof that change is possible.

Probation officers were at it again in North Chico, conducting a routine compliance search that quickly turned anything but routine.

Officers found an unregistered loaded revolver, described as a rather eye-catching “pink lady revolver,” along with methamphetamine. While the firearm made a bold fashion statement, it did little to improve the subject’s standing with probation.

The discovery of both the firearm and narcotics placed the individual in direct violation of the terms and conditions of probation. He was taken into custody without incident, and fresh charges are now pending.

A reminder that probation compliance checks are designed to promote accountability and community safety—and illegal possession of fi****ms and controlled substances remains a poor choice, regardless of color coordination.

As always, our officers remain committed to keeping our community safe—one compliance check at a time!

This weekend, youth at the Butte County Juvenile Hall enjoyed a spring-filled weekend of decorating Easter eggs, participating in an egg hunt, and for eligible youth, a bicycle ride with staff. These activities not only provided fun and positive engagement, but also helped promote important life skills such as teamwork, positive peer interaction, following directions, goal setting, and building healthy relationships with staff. Opportunities like these encourage pro-social behavior, build confidence, and reinforce that positive choices can lead to positive experiences.
