About the K9 Unit in Oroville, CA

The Oroville Police Department re established a K-9 program in 2007 with the arrival of Barricade who is affectionately known as “Bear.” Members of the K9 team raised funds from the local community to
revitalize the program. Community benefits derived from a police K-9 include:

Assistance to officers in finding lost children and elderly citizens;
More e

fficient illegal drug detection;
A reduction in on-the-job injuries to officers and suspects;
A reduction in police officer time and manpower to conduct searches;
Demonstrations at schools and private/public clubs. Fundraising Goals:

Our goal is to raise enough money to help keep the program alive and to pay for much needed training for our dogs, specifically to get them trained for Narcotic Detection. Narcotic Detection training runs about $10,000 and the program itself needs to raise $27,000 per year to keep up with certifications, food, lodging, and necessary veterinary check ups and vaccinations.
