Pete Coratti studied the culinary art of Neapolitan pizza in Italy before returning home to bring that knowledge and expertise back to Michigan. He envisioned converting an empty call center in downtown Howell into a destination diners gather in and enjoy authentic wood-fired pies.

An MEDC Match on Main grant helped Pete purchase kitchen equipment, specialized ovens and interior fixtures for the space. This investment not only turned a vacant building into a local favorite, but it gave Pete the foundation to expand into new locations in Ann Arbor and Lansing.

In downtown Sault Ste. Marie, Lynde and Brent Blair set out to restore the historic Del-Mar building, honoring its roots while creating space for future residents and visitors to enjoy.

Over the years, the 1950s property had fallen into disrepair, but with support from an MEDC Revitalization and Placemaking grant and a Small Business Support Hub grant, the Blair family gave it new life.

Today, the upstairs apartments are fully leased, and the main-floor restaurant welcomes guests from far and wide.

LG Energy Solution's new 2.8M square-foot facility in Lansing will expand domestic battery manufacturing. As one of the largest battery production facilities in Michigan, 1.3K+ talented Michigan workers will build high-tech batteries that power everything from electric cars to energy storage.

To support this growth, we approved critical SOAR funding for job creation, and, in partnership with Lansing Economic Area Partnership, awarded a Strategic Site Readiness Program infrastructure grant to prepare the site for long-term production.

This work will help ensure the Lansing region remains at the forefront of the EV and advanced energy revolution for years to come.
