Let’s honor the seafarers and maritime industry that keep Michigan connected across the Great Lakes and around the world.

On National Maritime Day, we recognize the infrastructure and shipping networks that power commerce throughout our state. Michigan’s first-ever Maritime Strategy is helping shape the future of our ports, strengthen freight movement, and support maritime jobs and economic growth across the state.

Every decision, big or small, shapes Michigan’s future. The Michigan Infrastructure Council has launched the Asset Management Essentials (AM) for Elected Officials and Decision Makers eLearning course: a free, self-paced program designed to help Michigan’s leaders make confident, informed infrastructure decisions.

In under three hours, participants will learn the essentials of AM, connect local challenges to statewide priorities, and strengthen collaboration between staff and leadership.

Did your school, church, or nonprofit install solar panels or EV chargers in 2025? The IRS could send you a check for 30% to 70% of project costs through the Elective Pay program. The filing deadline is May 15th.

The Michigan Infrastructure Office's Elective Pay Ambassadors offer free, one-on-one help walking eligible organizations through the application. A recent article in Planet Detroit broke down who qualifies, what projects count, and how to reach your regional ambassador before the window closes:

Michigan tax-exempt organizations that installed solar panels, EV chargers, or other clean energy equipment in 2025 can claim federal rebates.
