Drill with Essex Fire Department in Essex.
Members from Deep River, Chester and Essex fire departments joined forces to work on three different accident scenarios. The two departments merged, then broke into 3 different groups. Each group had a different accident scene to mitigate. In each case one vehicle was on top of another vehicle. The firefighters needed to stabilize the top vehicle first, then use tools to free the vehicle on the bottom to get to any possible occupants.
This drill provided the opportunity for firefighters from different departments to work together and to brain storm ideas and methods as well as use new tools and techniques.

Firefighters had the opportunity to drill in a smoke filled, heated, under dark conditions (fire trailer), as experienced in a real fire. Hose advancement as well as search and rescue were part of the drill.

April Community Breakfast
Thanks to the set up crew, chefs, servers and break down crew, our Deep River community was able to enjoy another wonderful, fresh cooked breakfast.
Thank you to Rick Daniels for introducing the thought of a free community breakfast, which the department unanimously agreed to. Also kudos to Rick for his "cheesy potatoes" he personally makes for every breakfast. This delectable dish has its own following.

Last night around midnight, DRFD was dispatched to a reported dryer fire in a second floor apartment on Main Street. On arrival responders had a smoke condition on the second floor with alarms sounding and heavy smoke in the unit with the dryer. First priority was evacuation of another tenant that had not left their unit yet. Responders were able to wake them and get them out safely. The active fire in the apartment was extinguished quickly minimizing the damage. Thankfully, nobody was injured. Great work with a quick response by DRFD.

Lime Sale 2026
Thanks to Rich Kolmer for once again leading the helm of our Lime sale fund raiser, to Jen Kolmer for keeping everything organised and for feeding the members with her amazing culinary skills and to every member who participated in the event. Thank you to everyone who supported the fund raiser, your support is very much appreciated. The money raised will go towards extra equipment to benefit the department.
