Providing Volunteer Fire & Medical Services to the Town of Chester Connecticut

The Chester Hose Company, located along the west bank of the Connecticut River in central Connecticut, has been protecting the lives and property of those living in and passing through the town in addition to providing fire, rescue, and hazmat services to the residents of the 17 square mile town, since it's founding in 1912. In addition, we have mutual aid agreements with departments in Clinton, Deep River, Essex, Haddam, Killingworth, Old Saybrook, Westbrook, and the South District station out of Middletown. Additional services from Guilford can also be called upon for Hazmat and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT).

🎃 Halloween Fun in Downtown Chester! 🚒

The Chester Hose Company had a great time participating in the downtown Halloween festivities!

Our members enjoyed seeing everyone in their costumes and handing out treat bags and fire helmets to the kids.

🚒 Meet Our Members: Kelly Nelson

Kelly Nelson came to us in March of 2026 showing up to all our drills and meetings along with some fundraising events.

He joined to help his community due to being a retired physician. He took his EMT in the fall of 2025 at Yale. He says that helping the ill and getting them to the hospital quickly has been in his plans for a couple of years. Living by the firehouse allows him to respond right away.

You will see Kelly running and walking around town. Please feel free to stop him and say hello.

We are grateful to have Kelly as part of the Chester Hose Company and appreciate his dedication to serving our community!

Come out and support the Chester Hose Company at our Tractor Pull on Saturday, October 17th!

Weigh-In: 9:00 AM
Pull Starts: 10:00 AM
Classes: 3,000 to 6,500 lbs. in 500 lb. increments

🍳 We’ll also be selling breakfast and lunch throughout the event!

This Friday marks 25 years since September 11, 2001. There will be a presentation at 9:30 a.m. on the lawn at the Town Hall, and everyone is welcome.

Nearly 3,000 people were killed that day, including 343 firefighters, 60 police officers, and eight EMTs and paramedics. It remains the largest single-day loss of emergency responders in this country's history.

A great day celebrating America’s 250th alongside departments and organizations from across Middlesex County. Thank you to everyone who came out for the parade! 🇺🇸

With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Thomas F. Miksa.

His strong sense of community first brought him to our department as a Junior Member. He proudly served for fifty-five (55) years, holding many roles over the decades, including Junior Advisor, Trustee, Truck Driver, Firefighter, EMT, Fire Police, and 2nd Assistant Chief. He inspired fellow members and encouraged others to join our volunteer family.

Tom was a mentor to many and a friend to all. His contagious laughter and positive attitude will be missed by all of us.

Rest easy, brother. We’ll take it from here.
