Today, our department paused to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the firefighters, police officers, EMS personnel, and civilians who made the ultimate sacrifice.

We were especially honored to have among us a former New York City Firefighter Don Offner who served at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001, and who now serves our community as a Fire Commissioner. His presence, as KVFC Secretary Paul Schilling played the bagpipes ,in honor of those who never came home, made this memorial especially meaningful.

Twenty-five years later, we remember those we lost, honor those who served, and continue to carry their memory forward.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

The KVFC assisted the Clinton Volunteer Fire Dept at the annual Summerfest Fireworks. Engine 1 and crew were staged in a nearby neighborhood to make sure no stray embers caused any issues. Thank you to CFD for giving a great view!!

Recognizing Our Members’ Accomplishments
The Killingworth Volunteer Fire Company (KVFC) is proud to recognize the accomplishments and dedication of our members over the past several months.
FF James Henderson recently completed Connecticut Firefighter I & II, where he was selected to serve as Squad Leader. James has continued to advance his training by completing his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification and earning his Q endorsement, allowing him to operate fire apparatus.
Jr. FF Sean Link, after successfully completing both the Introduction to the Fire Service and Advanced Fire Service programs at the Connecticut Fire Academy, was selected from numerous applicants to serve as Counselor for this year’s ASAC 14 class.
KVFC is proud to have members like James and Sean who continue to pursue training, accept leadership opportunities, and strengthen our organization and the community we serve.

Good afternoon,

We hope you are all staying cool today if you can.

The KVFC in conjunction with our area mutual aid partners are hosting a training seminar this weekend. This seminar is to provide us with the latest information and skills to successfully move water from a water source to the scene of a fire. As many of you are aware, we have no public water supply in Killingworth and rely on tanker trucks to transport water to the scene.

Tomorrow’s session will mostly be practical skills moving water from Lovers Lane to the Middle School on Route 81. This will necessitate Lovers Lane to be shut down from approximately 9am -3pm tomorrow. Please be aware that there will be 12-14 tankers running the route as posted below.

Thank you for your continued support and we apologize for the minor delay this will cause but is extremely valuable training for the attendees.

Thank you -Busch and for the generous donation of emergency drinking
water, and to Dichello distributors for delivering it to our fire station!
This water will help keep our firefighters hydrated during wildfires and extended responses in extreme heat.

The donation is provided through Anheuser-Busch’s Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland
Firefighters program, which supports volunteer departments with critical hydration resources during wildfire season. Learn more at
