Recently, the Embassy’s Deputy Head of Mission, Ms. Eva Tenzin visited Culion, Palawan, for the turnover of the Voice for Safety project implemented by Culion Foundation, Inc. under funded by Česká rozvojová agentura - CzechAid.

Culion is highly vulnerable to typhoons, storm surges, floods, and public health emergencies. Its geographic isolation, coupled with inadequate communication infrastructure, poses significant challenges to disaster preparedness and emergency response.

To address these challenges, the project aims to strengthen disaster preparedness and risk communication through a multi-channel communication system, including a solar powered public address system, across eight high-risk barangays.

During her visit to the islands, Ms. Tenzin witnessed firsthand how the public address system operates to relay important information and emergency alerts to residents.

Czechia remains committed to working with Philippine institutions to build disaster-resilient communities across the Philippines. 🇨🇿🇵🇭

From 10–18 October, the Czech Embassy in Manila led an economic diplomacy mission to the Czech Republic for a delegation from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF). The mission aimed to strengthen Czech-Philippine cooperation in biodiversity conservation by connecting Philippine conservation expertise with Czech scientific institutions, innovative technologies, and private-sector solutions.

The delegation comprised DENR Undersecretary Atty. Ernesto D. Adobo Jr. and Mr. Anson Tagtag, alongside PEF Executive Director Dennis Joseph I. Salvador, Director for Operations Dr. Jayson C. Ibanez, and Veterinarian Dr. Danielle Kirsten D. Pasion. They were accompanied by Ms. Markéta Pěčková of the Czech Embassy in Manila.

During their mission, the delegation visited Liberec Zoo, Ostrava Zoo, Olomouc Zoo, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, Charles University, and the Embassy of the Philippines in the Czech Republic. They also met with Czech companies, including Meopta, FOMEI, and BUNATY, to explore optical technologies and wildlife-monitoring equipment for biodiversity conservation.

The mission marks another important step towards deeper Czech-Philippine collaboration, translating shared environmental ambitions into opportunities for long-term cooperation.🌿🦅

FROM ROBOT TO AI — Solidaridad Literary Series IV

The Embassy of the Czech Republic participated at the Solidaridad Bookshop’s Literary Series: “Ang R.U.R. ni Čapek sa Salin ni Sicat at ang Ating Panahon,” highlighting Dr. Luna Sicat-Cleto’s role in bridging Czech and Filipino literature.

The event also featured a special exhibition on Czech-Filipino literary collaborations including Czech books translated into Filipino and vice versa.

The conversation takes on added significance this year as Czechia is the Guest of Honour at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair, following the Philippines’ turn in 2025.

The event was organised in partnership with the Embassy and in collaboration with the Office of Senator Loren Legarda.
