‎2027: Uyo Stakeholders Unveil “Complete Continuity Ticket”

‎…as SSG, others consult Uyo people on behalf of Gov. Eno

‎Critical stakeholders in Uyo Local Government Area have unveiled what they described as a “Complete Continuity Ticket” ahead of the 2027 general elections, endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Umo Eno, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Hon. Mark Esset, and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo.

‎Speaking during a consultative stakeholders’ meeting held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Atan Offot, Uyo, the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, thanked stakeholders for their continued support for Governor Eno’s administration and called for even stronger backing ahead of the APC primaries and the general elections.

‎He assured the gathering that Governor Eno remains committed to ensuring that Uyo continues to benefit from people-focused policies and developmental projects.

‎Uwah also disclosed that Uyo Local Government Area has emerged as a major political stronghold for the APC, recording the highest number of registered party members on the party’s electronic registration portal.

‎"Figures obtained from the party’s registration portal indicate that Uyo currently leads other local government areas in membership strength of over 40,000 registered APC members," he said.

‎According to him, the impressive figures reflect the growing confidence of the people in both the APC and the administration of Governor Umo Eno. He added that party members must approach the party’s internal processes and forthcoming primaries with seriousness and a unity of purpose.

‎The SSG assured stakeholders that the Governor would not disappoint them, stressing that every decision and action taken by the administration is aimed at advancing the overall interest of the state. He also highlighted some of the ongoing projects being executed in Uyo.

‎Speaking on the forthcoming primaries, Uwah explained that although the Governor would have preferred to meet directly with stakeholders across the state, time constraints made it necessary for representatives to engage with them on his behalf.

‎Uwah, who also serves as Chairman of the APC Local Organising Committee for the primaries in Akwa Ibom State, urged stakeholders to remain united and expressed confidence that the electoral process would be peaceful, transparent, and credible. He also encouraged party faithful to participate in the exercise actively.

‎He further called on residents and eligible voters to take advantage of the final phase of the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), noting that voter registration remains vital to sustaining the party’s electoral strength ahead of 2027.

‎Earlier, the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Council, Dr Uwemedimo Udo, said the Governor could not personally visit all local government areas and had therefore mandated the team to represent him. He urged party faithful to reciprocate the Governor’s support and commitment at the polls.

‎He also charged party members to turn out en masse for the House of Representatives primaries scheduled for Friday, May 15, 2026, as well as subsequent electoral activities aimed at consolidating the party’s growing dominance in the state.

‎Those present at the meeting included stakeholders, elders, political appointees, chapter officers, councillors, ward coordinators, women leaders, youth leaders, and grassroots mobilisers.

UYO STAKEHOLDERS DECLARE TINUBU, ENO, OTHERS CONSENSUS CANDIDATES FOR 2027

Critical stakeholders in Uyo Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State have adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, Governor Umo Eno, PhD, Senator Aniekan Bassey, Rt. Hon. Mark Esset and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo as consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The position was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the residence of the Political Leader of Uyo/Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah, in Atan Offot, Uyo.

The meeting, which brought together eminent sons and daughters of Uyo, including political actors, religious leaders and community stakeholders, undertook a review of governance at the federal, state and legislative levels, as well as the prevailing political climate in the area.

Rising from the deliberations, the stakeholders commended President Tinubu for what they described as a people-oriented leadership style, particularly in creating a fiscal environment that has enhanced the capacity of sub-national governments to deliver development projects.

They also lauded Governor Umo Eno for his performance, noting that the implementation of the ARISE Agenda has translated into visible development outcomes across Akwa Ibom State.

The forum further acknowledged what it described as a peaceful and stable political atmosphere in Uyo Local Government Area, attributing it to inclusive governance and broad-based participation.

On legislative representation, the stakeholders passed a vote of confidence on Senator Aniekan Bassey (Akwa Ibom North-East Senatorial District), Rt. Hon. Mark Esset (Uyo Federal Constituency) and Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo (Uyo State Constituency), citing effective constituency engagement and impactful interventions.

Consequently, the stakeholders unanimously adopted the trio, alongside President Tinubu and Governor Eno, as sole candidates for the 2027 Presidential, Gubernatorial, Senatorial, House of Representatives and House of Assembly elections.

In addition, the forum encouraged friends in Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District (ISD) to sustain and strengthen their support for the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio, ahead of the 2027 polls.

The motion for the adoption was moved by the Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area, Dr. Uwemedimo E. Udo, and seconded by a former member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Archibong Inyang.
