APC CONDUCTS PEACEFUL HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES PRIMARIES ACROSS WARDS IN UYO LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA
The All Progressives Congress (APC) on Saturday, May 16, 2026, conducted its House of Representatives primary elections across various wards in Uyo Local Government Area.
The exercise, held simultaneously across designated ward centres, attracted a large turnout of delegates, party stakeholders, youths, and women, and was widely described as peaceful, orderly, and transparent.
Party leaders across the wards commended the unity and discipline of members, noting that the process reflected the growing strength and cohesion of the APC in Uyo LGA.
Below are highlights from the various wards:
WARD 1
Party faithful gathered at Government Primary School, Aka 1, for the APC House of Representatives primaries. The exercise held peacefully with a large turnout of delegates and supporters.
WARD 2
Party men and women gathered at Ikot Ntuen Oku Primary School for the APC House of Representatives primary election. The exercise recorded strong participation, with party stakeholders monitoring proceedings closely.
WARD 3
Party faithful gathered at Christ the King Model Primary School, Wellington Bassey Way, for the primary election in Ward 3. The exercise, which featured Hon. Mark Esset as the sole aspirant, was conducted peacefully under the supervision of the Returning Officer, Mbetobong Asuquo Okon, with a large turnout of party members and stakeholders.
WARD 4
Party faithful gathered at Lutheran Primary School, Itiam Etoi for the exercise. The Leader of the Uyo Legislative Council, Hon. Ekemin Bassey and the Chapter Secretary of the APC in Uyo, Iniobong Jacob, who addressed the gathering before commencement, urged calm and adherence to party guidelines and the exercise was conducted peacefully.
WARD 5
In Ward 5, party men and women led by the Chairman, Uyo Capital City Development Authority, Hon. Anietie Eka gathered at Secondary School, Etoi, for the APC House of Representatives primary election. The exercise held peacefully with a notable turnout of party members and stakeholders.
WARD 6
The Secretary to the State Government and Political Leader of Uyo, Prince Enobong Uwah, alongside his wife, Dr. (Mrs) Inemesit Uwah, were present at St. Michael Primary School, Uyo, where accreditation and voting were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere.
WARD 7
Party faithful gathered at St. John Primary School, Eniong Offot, for the primaries. The Ward Leader, Dr John James Etim and Ward Personal Assistant to the Governor, Hon. Vincent Udoh, addressed the gathering as accreditation and voting were conducted peacefully.
WARD 8
The Member representing Uyo State Constituency in the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Uwemedimo Asuquo, led other stakeholders, including the former Chairman of Uyo, Hon. (Elder) Imo Okon, as party faithful gathered for the exercise. The primaries were conducted in a calm and orderly atmosphere at Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Oku Ikono.
WARD 9
Party faithful, led by the Honourable Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Anieti Udofia, and the Uyo Council Secretary, Mr. Ubong Udofia, were present at Ikot Ekpeyak Primary School as the exercise held peacefully.
WARD 10
Party faithful gathered at QIC Primary School, Idoro, for the APC House of Representatives primary election in Ward 10. The exercise was well attended by party leaders and stakeholders, including the Political Leader of Ward 10, Obong Emmanuel Sampson, who monitored proceedings in a peaceful and orderly atmosphere.
WARD 11
The Chairman of Uyo Local Government Area and ALGON Chairman, Dr. Uwemedimo Udo, led party faithful to QIC Group School, Oku, where the exercise was conducted peacefully. Hon. Mark Esset emerged as the sole candidate and was affirmed in line with party guidelines by the Returning Officer, Mr. Akan Ita Okon. The exercise in ward eleven which was calm and well coordinated, was witnessed by former House of Assembly members Hon. Barr. Aniedi Ndem and Hon. Monday Eyo among others.
OVERALL OBSERVATION
Across all wards, the primaries were conducted peacefully, orderly, and transparently using the Option A4 voting system, with strong participation from delegates, youths, women, and party stakeholders. As the sole candidate, Hon. Mark Esset, PhD, swept all the votes across the wards.
Party supporters expressed satisfaction with the process, reaffirming their commitment to the continued growth and success of the APC structure in Uyo Local Government Area.
