INVEST IN PREVENTION TODAY TO ENSURE A BETTER FUTURE TOMORROW - LADY HELEN ENO OBAREKI
The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady and Chairperson, Akwa Ibom State Drug Control Committee (AKSDCC) urged all Stakeholders to come together to foster a culture where "say NO to drugs" is not only possible but also supported, celebrated and sustained.
Speaking at the event organised by the NDLEA in collaboration with the Akwa Ibom State Drug Control Committee to mark the 2025 International Day Against Drug Abuse and illicit Trafficking, she reiterated the need to engage in proactive measures to tackle the menace.
Speaking earlier, the Deputy Governor, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on boundary matters, Elder Okokon Ufi and the State Commander NDLEA, Mrs. Obot Bassey called on parents, teachers, communities and other stakeholders to join hands to ensure a safer, healthier and Drug-Free Akwa Ibom.
The celebration began with a lineup of activities including a Drug Awareness and Sensitization Road Walk, bringing together security agencies and relevant stakeholders— all stepping out boldly to raise awareness on the dangers of drug abuse.
The week-long activities with the theme "The evidence is Clear" culminated today in a grand finale at Ibom Hall with a powerful reminder that drug abuse is preventable.
The evidence is clear — now is the time to act!
Together, we are building a safer, healthier, and drug-free Akwa Ibom State.
