RECONSTRUCTION WORK AT EKET, UYO STADIUM SET TO RESUME AS MORE STADIUM EQUIPMENTS ARRIVE UYO

Thousands of stadium equipment have arrived Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, ahead of on-going renovation and reconstruction works at Uyo and Eket Township Stadia in Akwa Ibom State.

The equipment which is the first of many expected batches, arrived on Wednesday and were received by the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Sir Monday Uko.

Mr. Uko expressed gratitude to Akwa Ibom State’s multiple sports award-winning Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, for consolidating on his drive for infrastructural development and renaissance by approving and funding the on-going total reconstruction of Eket Township Stadium and the remodeling of Uyo Township Stadium.

The sports boss who expressed delight at both the quality and timely delivery of the equipment also hinted that contractors will be ordered to return to site as soon as Government has taken total delivery of all items and assured on the timely completion of the dual projects.

Also speaking, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Elder Paul Bassey, who thanked Governor Udom Emmanuel for making sports the cardinal point of his administration, also said “this is the first time sports in Akwa Ibom will be receiving so much attention from Government”.

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Mary Ukoete Bassey, enjoined Akwa Ibom youths to take advantage of the Governor’s developmental plans for sports by identifying and supporting various sports projects in their localities.

Some of the products received were thousands of differently-coloured plastic seats, artificial turf layers with rubber crumb infill as well as tartan track granules and artificial grass adhesive gums.

Upon completion the two stadia are expected to be all-covered 15000-seating sports edifices and will be homes to Akwa Ibom State’s first-ever Astro Turf surfaces and Synthetic Pitches.

AKWA IBOM STATE APPROPRIATION BUDGET OF 2020 SIGNED INTO LAW

The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel today 18th December, 2019 Signed budget of 2020 into Law.

Recall that on 5th December, 2019, Akwa Ibom State House Of Assembly led by the Working Speaker, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Bassey, passed appropriation bill a total of Revised 2020 Budget outlay of N597.735 billion, made up of N111.250 billion for Recurrent Expenditure, N369.577 billion for Capital Expenditure and N116.934 billion for Consolidated Revenue Fund Charges into law.

Gov. Udom Emmanuel today this morning after Executive session at the Executive Chamber in Government House Signed a budget of N597.735 into law to take effect from January 1st 2020.

On The Secret Burial of 1000 Soldiers Killed By Boko Haram/ISWAP: Nigerians Are Entitled to Know The Truth.

I read the report by the Wall Street Journal that over a thousand Nigerian soldiers have been secretly buried at night by the General Muhammadu Buhari led administration, in order to hide the true state of the war on terror, with a sense of heartbreak and shock.

Heartbreak for the families and friends of those soldiers who, if the report is true, have lost their loved ones, without being allowed to bury them or even to have any sense of closure as regards their fate.

Shock, that such a thing could happen under a democracy, such as Nigeria is supposed to be. I shudder to think that the cover-up of such an event of epic proportions can be true.

The men and women of our armed forces are our first, second and last defence against our domestic and foreign enemies and should be treated with love, respect, dignity and appreciation for the invaluable service they render to Nigeria.

I cannot fathom that in the space of a year, 1000 of these great patriots were killed and buried secretly without their families being told. I hesitate to believe that deceit on such a grand scale is even possible.

To ensure that we get to the bottom of this matter, I urge that a Judicial Commission of Inquiry headed by a non-partisan and reputable jurist, be inaugurated to investigate the findings of the Wall Street Journal. While this is occurring, I also strongly urge that a panel of inquiry comprising distinguished former military officers be set up to investigate and report to Nigerians the true state of the war on terror and what must be done to ensure Nigeria brings a speedy end to the ongoing insurgency.

Nigeria must ensure prudent use of finances, so we can redistribute national resources in such a way that ensures that our military and security forces are well armed and well remunerated.

Even the death of one soldier affects me. But the alleged cover-up of the deaths of one thousand soldiers is a national emergency that should shock all statesmen and leaders of thoughts into action to save Nigeria.

APC Warri Rally: Buhari Has Foreseen His Defeat - PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organization (PPCO) notes President Muhammadu Buhari’s voluntary handing over of his Presidential candidacy at the APC Presidential campaign rally in Warri, Delta state, on Thursday, and surmised that he (Buhari) has foreseen his defeat and already switched into a handing-over mode.

The whole world watched as President Buhari, apparently overwhelmed by thoughts of his defeat, ended up declaring the APC Governorship candidate in Delta state, Great Ogboru, as the Presidential candidate.

President Buhari told his audience, “I have this pleasure of handing over this flag of honour to our Presidential candidate”, while giving the flag to Great Ogboru.

It is clear that President Buhari, worried by the shunning of his campaign by Nigerians, mistook the Warri Rally for the May 29, 2019 handing over ceremony that is four months ahead.

President Buhari is already in the mood of his May 29, 2019 handover of mantle of leadership to PDP Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, following the national consensus to return the PDP back to power in the February 16, 2019 Presidential elections.

President Buhari had continued to display that he did not have the intention of seeking for a second term in office. It is evident that he is only being compelled by the cabal in his Presidency, who the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, had confirmed are manipulating the President for their pecuniary interest while the nation suffers.

The PPCO therefore calls on all Nigerians to note that there is no need casting any vote for President Buhari who has overtly shown that he is not prepared for the election.

In a live broadcast on Channels TV at 13.40hours today Buhari announced he was handing over the APC flag of honour to the party"s PRESIDENTIAL candidate Chief Great Ogboru.

Party faithfuls on the podium interjected to correct him and he rephrased it to SENATORIAL candidate.

On a further interjection by party faithfuls on the podium aimed at correcting him, he announced Ogboru as the gubernatorial candidate.
