The Honourable Commissioner for Science and Digital Economy, Dr. Frank Ekpenyong, delivered the keynote address at the CCISONFI Conference 2025—a prestigious gathering of Chief Information Security Officers and cybersecurity leaders from across Nigeria’s financial sector and beyond.
Held at the iconic Ibom Icon Hotels and Golf Resort, the three-day event placed Akwa Ibom State at the center of national conversations on cyber resilience and digital security.
Dr. Ekpenyong’s address spotlighted the bold tech-driven agenda of the Pastor Umo Eno administration, particularly the state’s commitment to delivering government services transparently and securely through digital platforms. These include:
• The redesigned official website (akwaibomstate.gov.ng)
• AKeID – Akwa Ibom’s Electronic Identity Passport
• MSMEs, employment, bursary, and procurement portals
• Digital grant validation for traders, farmers, and business owners
• Digital food voucher scheme for vulnerable citizens
• The upcoming AkwaGIS for land digitization
• Microsoft 365-powered internal infrastructure (AKSG-OPIN)
• And many more secure platforms promoting ease, transparency, and accountability
He emphasized the government’s “Resilience by Design” approach—leveraging secure platforms, encrypted systems, and digital identity verification (NINs, VINs, liveness checks) to protect data, prevent fraud, and ensure continuity of critical services.
Dr. Ekpenyong further emphasized the need for increased cybersecurity awareness, especially in rural communities where many remain vulnerable to digital threats. He reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to driving digital literacy and resilience across all levels of society.
Beyond his address, the Honourable Commissioner engaged with cybersecurity professionals and government leaders from other states and countries—building valuable networks and partnerships for a stronger, smarter digital future.
