The AAVFD Auxiliary's mission is to provide support and services to the AAVFD and volunteer fire departments state wide.

Purpose of Auxiliary:

The State of Alabama Volunteer Firefighter Association Auxiliary was established in August 2012. The purpose of the state-wide auxiliary is to support the AAVFD & promote and encourage local auxiliaries throughout the state. An auxiliary promotes friendships, creates a family atmosphere & promotes civic welfare among all departments statewide. The auxiliary is an integral part of the AAVFD working to encourage & strengthen local department auxiliaries. Auxiliaries inspire people to take action & become involved. The auxiliary pledges assistance to firefighters & their families in times of need.

REMINDER: On Tuesday, November 17, 2026, around 2:20 p.m. ET, FEMA and the Federal Communications Commission will conduct a nationwide test of the Emergency Alert System (EAS).

The test will air on radio and TV only and will not be sent to mobile phones. No action is needed from the public.

Federal law requires FEMA to conduct a nationwide EAS test at least once every three years. Routine tests help ensure the alert system is ready to provide timely information when it matters most.

Following the test, FEMA and our partners will review the results and identify opportunities to strengthen future alerting capabilities.

Fire Safety Fun at Thomasville Elementary!

Its been a busy month for Thomasville VFD as Charlie Dixon and other members have been spreading the word on fire safety.

On October 27, they had a great time with the elementary students at Thomasville Elementary reveiwing the importance of fire safety skills and hands on with some equipment.

Thomasville VFD loves connecting with the community and schools and helping make fire safety education an exciting and rewarding experience.

During October, Theodore Dawes Fire Rescue visited the Sonny Callahan Boys & Girls Club to teach fire safety skills to the students.

Students grades K5 through high school were able to get hands-on experience as they:
🏠 Practiced getting low under smoke to safely escape a home using our inflatable fire safety house!
🚒 Explored the fire engine and learned more about the tools firefighters use.
💦 Got a chance to handle the fire hose and experience a little of what firefighters do!

It's National First Responders Day!

Today, we honor the bravery, sacrifice and service of Alabama's police officers, firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, 911 dispatchers and support personnel. These individuals put their life on the line everyday to protect and keep citizens safe.

Thank you for your dedication and commitment to serving the citizens of Alabama.

🚒 Training Today for a Safer Tomorrow and we love seeing train with the Alabama Fire College Burn Trailer!

Members of the Wattsville VFD recently had the opportunity to train with the mobile burn trailer from the Alabama Fire College. This hands-on training allowed firefighters to strengthen their skills, practice fireground operations, and gain valuable experience in a controlled environment.

Wattsville VFD is committed to providing members with quality training to better serve and protect their community.

Sparky and members of Summerdale Volunteer Fire Department recently had a fantastic day at Summerdale School!

From Pre-K through 8th grade, the department spent time with students of all ages and sharing the important fire safety lessons. And, of course, Sparky the Fire Dog made a special appearance! 🐾❤️

Summerdale VFD loves getting out into schools and helping teach the next generation how to stay safe!

Thank you Summerdale VFD for teaching fire safety and providing community interaction and fire protection.

🚒 Congratulations to Pleasant Grove Volunteer Fire Department - through Operation Helping Heroes, the department was presented with a $750 donation to help purchase much-needed new equipment!

The department is very appreciative of Frank Scott Country Financial for the contribution.

Englewood Hulls VFD participated in Covenant Church fall festival! 🍂

The department had a great time hanging out with the community and showing off the fire trucks and informing citizens of what the department does every day 🚒
