The Alabama Department of Archives and History graciously hosted our Kiwanis Club on Tuesday. Steve Murray, Director of the Archives, opened the meeting telling us about the history of the Archives and all it has to offer- amazing exhibits, thousands of digital files, a YouTube channel, an interactive website, monthly speakers, author visits, and so much more. Club members then toured the exhibits at the Archives- and WOW! The new Children’s Gallery offers an amazing interactive way to teach children social studies. The Alabama Military Stories exhibit tells Alabama’s connections to the military and at home. And the Alabama Voices exhibit showcasing prominent Alabamians is remarkable. There is too much to put in a post so visit their website at www.archives.alabama.gov and visit their exhibits in person!
