Agape of Central Alabama

Agape of Central Alabama Agape's mission is that vulnerable children will find permanency in safe, nurturing families. [email protected]

As a ministry of Jesus Christ, Agape’s mission is that vulnerable and orphaned children find permanency in safe, nurturing families. This mission has led Christians using Agape to serve more than 2,000 children through foster care, and more than 250 children through the permanency of a Christian adoptive family. Hundreds of pregnant women in crisis have been counseled by Agape staff to choose life

for their unborn child, and to make the best choice for their future and the baby’s future. Agape is a non-profit 501(c)3 agency whose staff and board are all faithful Christians. There are staff members located in Montgomery, Birmingham and Enterprise. The majority of Agape’s funding is provided through donations from churches and individual Christians, with no client ever being turned away because of their inability to pay for a service. Agape maintains positive and supportive relationships with the Alabama Department of Human Resources and other professional agencies serving children and families. The only real limit on Agape’s ability to serve is the number of churches and individual Christians who step forward to involve themselves in the lives of the hurting children, the vulnerable young women who are pregnant, and the burdened families.

Wow! Thanks to the Montgomery Sunrise Rotary Club, more than 20 expectant moms will have a backpack ready for them when they go to the hospital.

They donated the contents for each backpack to help moms feel more comfortable during their hospital stay.

The backpacks also have a practical use after they leave the hospital. Moms making parenting plans receive a diaper bag backpack they can continue using after the baby arrives. Moms making adoption plans receive a traditional backpack filled with items just for them.

Thank you for helping us care for and serve these moms!

For some children, the hardest part isn't a diagnosis. It's growing up in a hospital because there aren't enough families trained to care for them at home.

You don't need to be a nurse or a doctor to be the answer for one of these children. Swipe to see how your home could be the place a child finally belongs. →

Alabama state employees, don't forget: you can choose Agape in this year's Statewide Combined Campaign!

We had a great time at the kickoff last week, and we're so grateful Agape is one of the options you can support, whether you give through a one-time gift or set up monthly payroll deductions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us last night at the Raising Hope Benefit Dinner in Birmingham!

We are currently at 95% of our goal of $40K! We’re especially grateful to the families and team members who shared their stories and gave everyone a closer look at the impact our supporters have in the lives of vulnerable children and expectant moms in crisis.

It was a special night for Agape, and we’re thankful we got to spend it with you!

Alabama state employees: did you know you can support Agape through the Statewide Combined Campaign?

When you give this year, you can choose Agape and help us care for vulnerable children and expectant mothers across Alabama. You can give through a one-time gift, or set up easy monthly payroll deductions that begin in January 2027. Just use our giving code: 106826.

We are so grateful for every person who chooses to give! Your kindness makes it possible for us to walk alongside foster and adoptive families and support moms facing unplanned pregnancies, and we could not do this work without you.

We need more homes for children who have medical needs.

Some children spend their entire childhood in a hospital or nursing home because there aren't enough homes trained to care for them. That's no place for a child to grow up.

Agape of Central Alabama will provide additional training and support for families willing to answer this call. You won't have to do it alone! To find out if this is right for your family, reach out to Angie Blackwell, our director of foster care, at [email protected]

There are nearly 6,000 children in foster care in Alabama right now, and each one needs a safe home. Becoming a foster parent is one of the most meaningful ways to impact a child's life and show them love.

If you've ever wondered what the process to get approved actually looks like, swipe through. At Agape, we walk with you through each step and continue to support you when a child is placed in your home. →

You don't have to feel ready or have it all figured out. To take the first step, call 334-272-9466 or visit agapeforchildren.org/foster-care.

Aminta, our maternity program supervisor, has something to say to everyone who donated maternity backpacks this summer.

We were blown away by your generosity. We are so grateful for the way you support Agape and the expectant moms we serve!
