Iron Gate is a soup kitchen and grocery pantry located in downtown Tulsa, but we provide more than a meal. We offer a safe, friendly and welcoming place to get out of the storm for a couple of hours every day. Although the numbers of people needing food assistance are staggering, they are more than
numbers to us. They are people we know and care about. The Mission
Iron Gate's mission is simple. We

feed the hungry of Tulsa—every day. We feed people in three ways, through our soup kitchen, grocery pantry and Kids Pantry. We call those who eat at Iron Gate our “guests” because we invite them to eat with us. Our philosophy is we are all guests on this earth and guests treat one another with courtesy, kindness and respect. The Vision
To be a friendly, welcoming place where all are greeted with a smile—a place of comfort and wholesome food, and a temporary respite from the major problems awaiting our guests outside our gates—unemployment, poverty, health care, shelter, transportation and more. History
In 1978, three Trinity Episcopal Church parishioners stepped outside a men’s Bible class to make a homeless man a sandwich. The ministry grew and the word on the street spread: “If you’re hungry, go to the church with the iron gate.”

Iron Gate became its own 501(c)3 organization in 1984. Since opening, Iron Gate has never turned anyone away who was hungry. Iron Gate is located in the basement of Trinity Episcopal Church, although we are not affiliated with the church. Thanks to the generosity of foundations, corporations, the faith community and individuals, we continue serving the hungry of Tulsa—every day.

Iron Gate welcomed dozens of families for our Family Volunteer night tonight. Our youngest volunteers packed kids packs and outreach bags and designed placemats to be used in our community meal. We would love to have you join us at our next one in July!

For many of us, the end of the school year is a time of joy, and a summer filled with activities and fun. But for many Oklahomans, the reality is one of scarcity and stress. One in four Oklahoma children are food insecure.

You can help make a difference. Visit www.irongatetulsa.orgto donate, volunteer or host a food drive.

Hunger doesn’t take a summer break.

For many families, summer can actually be one of the hardest times of year. School meals disappear, grocery costs rise, and budgets get stretched even further.

Every day at Iron Gate, we see neighbors doing their best to make ends meet while navigating rising food costs and impossible choices.

Because of this community, we’re able to continue providing groceries with dignity and without barriers.

If you’d like to help, there are so many ways:
• Volunteer
• Donate food
• Make a financial gift
• Share our mission

Together, we make sure our neighbors know they are not alone.
