Social Innovations Grant Recipient and Audience Choice Award Winner at Pitch United, BeHeard Movement, launched their "BeSeen Machine." This 24-hour virtual volunteer vending machine offers basic needs items and resources to folks who are experiencing homelessness. TAUW President & CEO, Alison Anthony, attended the launch and was invited to be the first person to try it out!

We love seeing our Social Innovations partners in action, and can't wait to see how the BeSeen Machine changes lives in our community.

Tulsa Area United Way is excited to celebrate the signing of House Bill 4095, which strengthens and updates the governance structure of the Oklahoma 211 Collaborative.

We’re grateful to the Governor for signing this bill. We’d also like to thank bill authors, Rep. Kevin Norwood and Sen. Jo Anna Dossett, for championing this important effort in the legislature.

Last week, members of Women United got their hands dirty designing and planting their own patio pots with our nonprofit partner, A New Leaf!

They toured their facilities and learned about A New Leaf's programs that are designed to empower people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism for a brighter future.

Thank you to A New Leaf for having us!

We’re grateful to Governor Stitt for signing SB 1290, which creates the 211 Hotline Revolving Fund. This restores state funding to give 211 Eastern Oklahoma, powered by Tulsa Area United Way, and HeartLine in OKC an even stronger foundation so we can keep showing up for people 24 hours a day, seven days a week in all 77 counties.

Thank you to Senator Jo Anna Dossett and Representative Kevin Norwood for leading key 211 legislation, and to Representative Daniel Pae and Representative Emily Gise for helping start this path through the 211 interim study.

Last week, a few of our staff joined other United Ways from across the country at United Way’s Advocacy Forum and Capitol Hill Day in Washington, D.C.

Our team met with members of Oklahoma’s Congressional Delegation to share the impact of our work in our community and advocate for policies that strengthen working families.

They highlighted the importance of 211 as a critical resource for connecting individuals to help, lifted up the realities facing ALICE households, and discussed the need to protect and strengthen programs like SNAP and WIC. They also emphasized the growing need for housing and utility assistance to ensure families can remain stable during challenging times.
