Last night, our Tulsa Officers faced an armed and violent suspect who is linked to a double homicide, a stabbing, and threatening a store employee with a knife.

Balancing the safety of Citizens and their own, a split-second decision had to be made to ensure safety. After exhausting several less-lethal options, the suspect continued to be non-compliant and remained a threat to others, leading an Officer to discharge his firearm to end the threat.

We at the Tulsa FOP firmly support our officers. They upheld their oath, defended our community, and protected themselves when de-escalation efforts didn't work.

This is never the desired outcome, but officers never take the decision to use deadly force lightly. They train for these exact moments to save lives, including their own.

Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected, especially the families of those injured or lost and our Officers.

This is a sobering reminder: When someone is a continuing threat to life, Noncompliance kills.

We stand firmly in support of our officers. They run toward danger, allowing the remainder of society to avoid it.

The Tulsa FOP wants to recognize the men and women of TPD’s Real Time Information Center.

Three years ago today, Tulsa Police Department’s Real Time Information Center keyed up on the radio for the very first time. It was a small moment—but one that marked the beginning of something much bigger.

Since that day, RTIC has grown in ways we couldn’t have fully imagined. What started as a new capability has evolved into a critical component of our operations—supporting officers in real time, enhancing situational awareness, and strengthening our ability to serve and protect our community.

Since beginning on plastic folding tables with borrowed computers, we have:
• Expanded our technology, tools, and data integration
• Built a highly skilled and dedicated team
• Assisted Real Time Information Centers across the country develop
• Played a role in countless successful outcomes and safer resolutions
• Contributed to the recovery of millions of dollars in stolen property
•Became on of the first RTICs to partner with the Fire Department

None of this growth would have been possible without the commitment, adaptability, and professionalism of our team. They continue to set the standard every day.

I’m incredibly proud of how far we’ve come—and even more excited about where we’re headed next.

Here’s to continued innovation, collaboration, and impact.

Help the Newman Family: Support KaSandra’s Ongoing Care and Recovery

On October 21, 2025, the Newman family’s world was turned upside down. KaSandra Newman, a beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and tireless community leader, was on her way to work in Tulsa when she was involved in a horrific vehicle accident. The crash left her with a severe traumatic brain injury, an anoxic brain injury, and multiple other serious bodily injuries.

KaSandra has spent over four months hospitalized, including time at an advanced out-of-state neurological rehabilitation hospital. Her courageous fight to recover has included relearning the most basic functions: walking, speaking, eating, and regaining use of her arms and legs. The road ahead remains long, challenging, and filled with uncertainty, with medical and care expenses that have become truly astronomical.

KaSandra has always been there for others. As a dedicated leader in the Fraternal Order of Police Auxiliary (FOPA), she served as Local President, State President, and National Vice President. The FOPA unites and supports families of the Fraternal Order of Police, especially during times of need. Their motto, “Never let them walk alone,” was more than words to KaSandra; she lived it by building real connections and ensuring members knew one another before a crisis struck. She has touched countless lives through her service and selflessness.

Today, KaSandra is back in Tulsa and residing in a nursing home. Unfortunately, insurance has stopped covering additional rehabilitation services, and her husband, Trent, cannot bring her home because she requires 24/7 care. The financial burden of providing the specialized, ongoing care she desperately needs is overwhelming for the family.

A recent article questioned the Tulsa Police Department's use of our Real Time Information Center and its Flock system during last year's demonstrations. In it, City Councilor Bellis alluded to technology violating the First and Fourth Amendments.

She also falsely implied that the Tulsa Police Department shares information with Tulsa County regarding ICE and immigration enforcement.

This is false and an inappropriate scare tactic that traumatizes Tulsa residents while undermining decades of progress between the Tulsa Police Department and the community we serve.

Where is her evidence? She has been given a platform to spread fear among Tulsans without proof, sowing division between the department and those we protect.

What’s the Truth?

Before the demonstrations began, we collaborated with organizers to ensure a safe environment for exercising their First Amendment rights. That cooperation continued throughout the multiple events across the city and afterward.

Yes, the Flock system was used during the demonstrations, but only to monitor reported agitators (not mere counter-protesters) who seemed intent on harming peaceful participants. Information came directly from demonstrators, and the system helped keep them safe.

Why would TPD share information with Tulsa County? They operate their own independent Flock contract and department, separate from ours.
Councilor Bellis’s statements appear designed to push an agenda, incite fear, and drive a wedge between citizens and the Tulsa Police Department.

Everyone should hold their government, including elected officials, accountable.

At the very beginning of last summer, the commander of the RTIC personally reached out and spoke with the organizer of a majority of the demonstrations that took place. In full transparency, the Tulsa Police Department wanted them to know that we would be monitoring their protest for their safety. By the end of the summer, they were contacting the Police Department to let us know when and where they were having demonstrations, and wanted to know if we would be watching over them to ensure their safety.

The RTIC was not only envisioned to help solve crimes, find lost or missing persons, and to further investigations, but also to ensure that our citizens, no matter who they are, can feel safe, knowing that we are watching out for them.

We invite Councilor Bellis to reach out and tour RTIC to see for herself how the system is used not only to solve crimes but also to protect the First Amendment rights of demonstrators and protesters.

IKEA just announced they’re opening in South Tulsa.

Half the city’s excited about affordable furniture.
The other half is already arguing in the parking lot over which way to walk through the showroom.

On the bright side, at least when you get home and realize you assembled it wrong, you can blame it on “Swedish engineering” instead of admitting you skipped step 3.

This fall, Tulsa Hills will be the home to the new IKEA store!
Unlike larger IKEA locations, this store will cover about 51,000 square feet, representing a reduction of roughly 75% compared to the average IKEA store. Despite its compact size, the store will stock approximately 3,000 items and feature popular food options. Customers will appreciate the convenience of online ordering with in-store pickup, eliminating the need for costly shipping. The IKEA store is forecast to bring in $30-40 million in new revenue to the City each year, invigorating retail sales and increasing visitor numbers to the Tulsa Hills shopping area, with a broader economic impact anticipated to surpass $100 million. The achievement of bringing IKEA to Tulsa Hills is a testament to the dedication of those involved.

NEW FOP LODGE UPDATE 👀
We’ve had lots of questions about what’s going up at the corner of 51st & Elm, so here’s the scoop. The property on the northwest corner, located within Tulsa city limits, will be the new meeting space for Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 93.

The goal is to be moved in by December of this year. The new lodge will also feature a large meeting hall with a bar and catering kitchen, which will be available to rent for events and meetings.

Our Officers spending their own money to give to the community.

Here is a great story about how a group of Tulsa Police Officers are looking after the community they serve:

CHRISTMAS DELIVERY — Officers buy and deliver presents for families near 61st and Peoria

Earlier this month, some of our Officers teamed up with the property management at St. Thomas Square to bring a little Christmas spirit to the residents of the complex.

Officers bought toys, home decor, and clothing, all with their own money, brought all of it to the complex, and delivered it to some of the people who live there.

The residents were all very grateful and overwhelmed by the Officers and their generosity to help make their Christmas a little brighter.
