Throughout her career, she has served at the federal, state, and local levels of government, including roles with two presidential administrations, the California Coastal Commission, and the California State Legislature.

Her extensive experience and commitment to public service will bring a valuable perspective to the Commission as we continue our work to strengthen transparency, accountability, and public trust in California government.

“The FPPC is proud to support AB 1130, which builds on years of work to address the growing use of paid influencers in political campaigns. Californians deserve to know when political content appearing in their feeds has been paid for by a campaign. By adding meaningful enforcement and making influencer payments easier to identify in campaign reports, AB 1130 strengthens transparency and accountability as campaigns embrace new platforms and forms of communication,” said Adam E. Silver, Chair of the California FPPC.

Under a new law, creators could face fines of $5,000 per post if they don’t disclose that they were paid to make political content.

Education is one of the most effective tools for strengthening compliance.

The FPPC's Political Reform Education Program (PREP) provides first-time or low-risk violators with an opportunity to learn California's campaign finance and ethics laws, and avoid formal enforcement penalties when appropriate.

Recently, a local candidate successfully completed PREP after correcting a campaign advertising disclosure issue, allowing the matter to be resolved without further enforcement.
