Baking isn’t for the faint of heart with this cookbook from our CA History collection vault: Chong Jan & Co’s Chinese cook book: a high class cook book from 1913. Each entry in the book is written in both English and Chinese, which features many recipes for cookies and cakes that look quite tasty, despite (or maybe because of) the enormous amounts of eggs and butter required!   Video description: woman wearing a chef’s hat standing in a kitchen tapping a spatula to her face with the caption ‘what to bake…’, then shots of the cookbook, ending with a recipe circled and the caption ‘18 eggs?!’ ending with the chef making a surprised face with the caption ‘in this economy!?’
