Ready to put your investigative skills to work protecting California? 🔎🌎

’s Office of Criminal Investigations is hiring an Investigator in Orange County.

Our sworn peace officers investigate some of California’s most serious alleged environmental crimes and hazardous waste violations. In this role, you may gather and preserve evidence, interview witnesses and suspects, conduct research and surveillance, collect hazardous waste samples, and prepare evidence supporting search and arrest warrants.

Previous law enforcement or investigative experience, POST certification and digital forensics experience are desirable.

Spanish bilingual skills are also preferred, but not required.

A formerly contaminated property in West Oakland has a new purpose: 50 affordable homes for seniors! 🏠🌱

Today, DTSC Director Katherine Butler joined community partners to celebrate the grand opening of Friendship Senior Housing.

provided over $800,000 for environmental cleanup, helping prepare the property for safe reuse and clearing the way for new affordable housing in one of the Bay Area’s most impacted environmental justice communities.

The project is part of a much larger transformation underway through our Equitable Communities Revitalization Grant ( ) Program.
Across California, ECRG-funded environmental work is advancing development of more than 9,000 homes — including nearly 5,000 affordable units.

Mighty enforcement ♻️ mighty community investment. 💚

As part of ’s judgment against Atlas Iron & Metal, $75,000 was directed to a Supplemental Environmental Project benefiting the affected neighboring Jordan High School community in Watts.

Administered by the California School-Based Health Alliance, the project supports work through Jordan High School’s Student & Family Wellness Center, including blood lead testing and efforts to increase environmental health awareness, education, youth leadership, health literacy and direct access to clinical care.

The result: a portion of the money obtained through DTSC’s enforcement action is going directly towards students and families in the community affected by the violations.
