On 04/29/2026, DCHD collected samples of Muncie water for independent lab analysis.
The samples were collected from 2 residential properties: One located in Selma and one located in Muncie, in the area West of Tillotson near Storer Estates.
These images show the results of those tests. Both samples were below the maximum levels allowed for each test. Both samples also tested absent for coliform bacteria and specifically E. Coli, meaning none was found.
Additionally, on 05/12/2026 DCHD conducted in-house analysis of the chlorine content of the water drawn from our tap in downtown Muncie. That water tested at 2.8ppm Chlorine and 0.2 ppm combined chlorine. According to the CDC and EPA, 4.0 ppm is the maximum allowed chlorine residual. The pH tested at 7. EPA standards call for a range of 6.5 to 8.5.
Disclaimer: The testing represented here is limited in scope. There are 100s or more different compounds that can be tested for, with limitations set in part by the testing equipment available and the budget available to fund testing.
