Thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and into tonight. Some severe storms will be possible. Damaging wind will be the main threat, although large hail and a few tornadoes will also be possible. The storms will also be capable of producing heavy downpours resulting in the potential for localized flash flooding.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible late Wednesday afternoon and evening across east central Indiana into central Ohio. These storms, should they develop, will be capable of producing damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. A more widespread line of storms will move through eastern Indiana, west to central Ohio, and northern Kentucky later Wednesday evening and overnight, bringing damaging winds as the primary threat along with isolated tornadoes.

While temperatures will climb into the upper 80s and lower 90s, it'll feel closer to 100°F in some locations. Early-season heat can be especially tough because many of us haven't adjusted to it yet.

Whether you're working outside, attending a ballgame, or tackling projects around the house, take the heat seriously. Drink water before you're thirsty, take breaks in the shade, and check on family members, neighbors, and pets.

Take a moment to review the forecast from the National Weather Service below and plan accordingly.

The humid air mass will remain in place. This combined with temperatures rising into the upper 80s to around 90 both today and tomorrow will result in the heat index approaching 100. Being the first hot days of the year, it may take some time to get acclimated. So the effects of the heat may be greater than later in the summer. Be sure to take precautions, especially if you will be spending time outdoors.
