Today is the day! School is back in session, and students across Lancaster are heading back to the classroom.

That means school buses are rolling, crosswalks are busier, and school zones are active again. Please slow down, stay focused, watch for kids, and give yourself a little extra time during morning arrival and afternoon dismissal.

Members of the Lancaster Police Department will also be out around our schools helping keep students safe and reminding drivers to take it easy in school zones.

Let’s make the first day back a safe one for our students, families, and school staff.

Flooding is possible across Fairfield County.

If you encounter a flooded roadway, turn around. Do not drive through it.

And if a road is closed, do not go around the barricades. Road closures are there for a reason, and conditions can change quickly.

Floodwater can hide washed-out roads, debris, and dangerous currents. Flooding is deadly.

Stay safe. Stay off flooded roads.

One of the bridges on Busey Rd between Hill and Pickerington Rds has been damaged due to the rain and swift water. Please choose an alternate route. Appropriate departments have been notified and are responding.
