May 15th is National Peace Officers Memorial Day — a day set aside to honor and remember the more than 24,000 law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty in the United States since 1786.
Among those heroes is our own Officer William John Pettit, who made the ultimate sacrifice on December 2, 1990, while serving and protecting the Troutman community.
Today, we pause to remember Officer Pettit’s courage, dedication, and selfless service. His sacrifice will never be forgotten. We honor his memory not only through remembrance, but through our continued commitment to serving our community with integrity, compassion, and professionalism every day.
