Congratulations to the following members who will be the officers for the post the next year. Commander - Ralph Dagenhart, Vice Commander - Dave MacFeiggan, Adjutant - Todd Kincer, Finance Officer - Ken Moore, Chaplain - John Beyerle, Assistant Chaplain - Billy Lowrance, Sgt-at-arms - Tony DiTondo, Historian - Randall Wingfield, and Service Officer - Bob Klatt. Most of these gentlemen are continuing in the positions elected from at least the last year or more with a couple joining as first time officers and one returning after health issues restricted his abilities. They will be sworn in next month and will assume this positions starting July 1 2025. These guys are going to do some great things for the post!

Over the last year or so the youth at Mountain Road Baptist Church started working on a project to install a new flag pole at the church and called it the "Greatest Love Project". The youth raised money to purchase a flag pole and bricks to go around the flag pole area. Our post decided to get involved and donated to the project through the American Legion and the Auxiliary. Yesterday evening we dedicated the flag pole to the veterans of the church and the community. It was an honor to be asked to speak and participate in the ceremony.

The other day on Halloween we participated again in the Troutman trails and treats event. Each year the town hosts this event and it is always a busy and fun time seeing all the kids in their costumes. Usually we see somewhere between 1500-2000 kids and this year I think we had way more than that, from the time the kids started coming through the line never let up!

Many of you know we are a smaller post with limited resources, we had a couple of our members that had the ability to go to areas hit by the recent hurricanes to help with clean up and other areas. Some of those affected by the storm here in NC have found their way to safe places in our area, one of those places is the Statesville I-77 RV and campground located at exit 45. They have taken in to help several veterans from the Ashville, NC area. While most needs have been met by generous people all over they still have 2 large needs, RV's and money to help cover camp spots. Today it was my pleasure to present 2 checks to them to help cover the spots. The post donated $400 and our AMAZING auxiliary donated another $100. Pictured is the campground manager who is also a veteran and also a picture of one of the other several veterans staying there. I had a nice chat with the manager and I hope to work with the campground some more!!

So it has been a very crazy day with the storm that passed through today. Our post has power currently as of about 5 pm today, as for my house we have been without power since about 10:30 am. No major damage that I can see around my house or at the post. Legion family and friends please check in and let us know how your doing!

Sometimes the best way to help our community is just being there when they need you.

For just over a year now once a month Azure comes to our post to drop off organic foods grown here in the US to their clients. Today was one of those days.

I truly love we are able to be there for them.

If you’re interested or have any question about Azure and their fine products please contact Laurie Marie Allred

Sorry for the lack of pictures of our breakfast today I honestly didn’t think about it as my phone was connected to my speaker playing music. We did however have an amazing time.

A shout to to my amazing Auxiliary Ladies for all their help. Sheila and DeDe y’all worked so hard and it showed.

A special Thank you to Commander McDaniel for his help in making our first breakfast such a success.
