Center Grove Volunteer Fire Department was founded in 1973 by five community members: Ronnie Reynolds, Robert Krack, Vernon Poe, Robert Thomas, and Paul Caves. They had approximately 20 department members. On January 7th, 1979, the fire department suffered a fire that destroyed the building, as well as two trucks and equipment. The members did not give up; they constructed a new building and purch

ased equipment. Today, Center Grove Fire Department has as a member the last surviving founding member, Robert Thomas, who is still active with fire calls, medical calls, and training when able to attend. Robert has held several positions in the fire department, including Chief. Robert was the first member to obtain his EMT certification.

Arkansas remains at an increased risk for wildfire. Sixty‑two counties are currently at high risk, and the remaining 13 are at moderate risk. Burn bans are in effect in 63 counties. Under these conditions, fires can ignite easily, spread quickly, and become serious if not addressed right away. Even small brush fires or campfires can escape.

The public is urged to avoid activities that could unintentionally start a fire and to follow all local burn restrictions. To reduce wildfire risk:

🚫Avoid outdoor debris burning.
🚫Do not discard ci******es outside.
🚫Avoid parking vehicles on dry grass.
🚫Use caution with equipment that creates sparks.
🚫Never leave any outdoor flame unattended.

Report wildfire smoke or fire immediately to Forestry Dispatch at 1‑800‑468‑8834.

The back-to-school season is filled with joy for many — smiling first-day photos, new backpacks, and busy hallways. But for parents who have lost a child, it can be one of the most painful times of the year.
While social media fills with milestones, grieving families are often facing an empty chair, a profound silence, and the heartbreaking weight of what should have been. The backpack that should have been packed. The photo that will never be taken. The grade they will never start. Please keep these families in your prayers.
