DISCLAIMER: The appearance of links, mentions of specific companies, corporations, persons, and/or brands does not constitute endorsement. A: Typically, Marines are evaluated during the annual Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition circuit and Marine Corps Championships for, but not limited to, proficiency in marksmanship disciplines

as well as for their character, coachability, "team player-ness", and professionalism. Marines who meet these qualifications may be offered an opportunity to join the team as a "Summer Augment" and represent the Marine Corps at various local, state, regional, and national level events. If a Marine is determined to be an excellent candidate for a permanent personnel position, they will be offered the opportunity to come to the team permanently. Alternatively, Marines may come to Quantico, at their unit's convenience and/or expense, to train with the team when possible in order to be evaluated. Due to the nature of this approach, Marines may be subject to more scrutiny given the compressed nature of the evaluation periods. A: Marines who are instructed to submit a package to teams will submit a standard Re-enlistment, Extension, Lateral Move (RELM) package via their career planner to the OIC of the Marine Corps Shooting Team. The RELM package will be for the Special Duty Assignment to Marine Corps Shooting Teams for the duration necessary to complete the 36-month tour. The following documentation shall be submitted with the RELM package:

(a) A competitive shooting history of the applicant. (b) An I&I duty checklist. (c) Tattoo Screening Form. (d) Financial planning worksheet. (e) Other documentation as requested. The applicant's RELM package and documentation will be routed to Weapons Training Battalion (WTBN) via the applicant's career planner to the WTBN career planner. WTBN career planner will forward the RELM to the shooting team for review, and from there up to the Commanding Officer (CO) of WTBN. If approved for onboarding to the Shooting Team, the CO of WTBN will provide an endorsement letter and return the RELM package (via WTBN Career Planner) to the applicant's career planner. The applicant will THEN obtain RELM comments from their parent command, and route their package up to HQMC. The applicant's package will be evaluated by the various levels of Manpower Management Enlisted Affairs (MMEA) and returned to the applicant via the applicant's career planner with decision. Q: Can you look up the results of a Match for me? A: Sometimes, but typically no. Almost all matches we conduct are tracked electronically on public websites, so the information is available for you to search. We do not commit personnel to research older match results. All records have been turned over to the Marine Corps Archives in Quantico, VA.

Making History 🥇

Congratulations to Staff Sgt. Tyler Johnson and Sgt. Spencer Harrell for bringing home the gold at the International Sniper Competition, marking the first Marine Corps win since 2009 and only the second in the competition’s history!

Hosted annually at Fort Benning, the International Sniper Competition brings together elite two-man teams from across the U.S. military and partner nations. Over multiple days, competitors are tested in unknown distance engagements, target detection, stalking, and high-stress shooting scenarios designed to replicate real-world combat.

Get Some!

Last week at Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps Marksmanship Competition East kicked off with instructors leading competitors through the basic and intermediate period of instruction.

Marines began by refining the fundamentals of rifle and pistol manipulation through the basic POI, then progressed into more dynamic moving and shooting drills for the second. Each drill built on the last, reinforcing precision, speed, and confidence.
