REQUIREMENTS:

Marine Security Guard (PFC-Sgt)

Cannot be married or single parent with custodial rights of a child
Married Sgts can apply for MSAU per MARADMIN 079/21
Must have an adjudicated secret clearance
Qualify for Top Secret security clearance
Financially stable
18 months time on station
Minimum 90 GT
No NJPs within one year
Completed PFT/CFT
Must have a 2nd class PFT
Service Pro & Cons 4

.2/4.2 and/or JEPES score of 2 or higher (Cpl and below)
38 months obligated service at the time the Marine reports to school
High level of maturity, judgment, and sound moral character

Detachment Commander (SSgt-*MGySgt)

Can be married
No more than four (4) total dependents
The Marines youngest child must be a minimum of 9 months old at the time the Marine reports to school
No dual military or single parents with custody
Spouse must be a U.S. citizen or dual citizen
Must have an adjudicated Secret clearance
Qualify for Top Secret security clearance
Financially stable
SSgts must have one (1) year time in grade
24 months time on station
Minimum 100 GT score
Completed PFT/ CFT
Must have a 2nd class PFT
No NJPs within one year
38 Months obligated service at the time the Marine reports to school
High level of maturity, judgment, and sound moral character

*All applicants for MSG must be a United States citizen

Last week, Marine Corps Embassy Security Group (MCESG) conducted a PT event centered around compound defense. The objective was simple: push through fatigue and finish strong.

Marines from across the command came together to compete, motivate one another, and prove once again that adversity is best overcome as a team. The event also served as a farewell PT for Colonel Magee, MCESG’s Commanding Officer.

Training Never Stops.

Marine Security Guards continuously prepare for high-risk scenarios to ensure the protection of U.S. diplomatic personnel and facilities around the world.

Recently, Marines assigned to Detachment Baghdad, Iraq, conducted an Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise designed to rehearse crisis response procedures and reinforce tactical proficiency. Exercises like this strengthen coordination, decision-making, and rapid response capabilities in complex environments.

In every clime and place, MSGs remain ready.
