🚨 MARSHALL COUNTY CLEAN STREAK CHALLENGE 🚨

Well, look what we have here again! 👀😂

It’s almost 9:00 PM on November 1st, and so far today, ZERO arrests reported in Marshall County! 👏

It’s been a while since we’ve had a full 24-hour clean streak, but we’re getting pretty close to pulling it off again!

And with daylight saving time ending last night, it already feels like it’s almost 10 PM! 😂 That extra hour really has everyone ready for bed early.

Maybe turning the clocks back is exactly what Marshall County needed to stay out of trouble! ⏰

We’ve got just over 3 hours left until midnight, and the question is… can Marshall County finish the day without a single arrest?

We’ve been down this road before, and a few times somebody managed to ruin it right before midnight. 😂

Let’s see if we can finally get another clean day on the books!

🚨 PLEA DEAL ACCEPTED IN MARSHALLTOWN SHOOTING CASE

A Mount Pleasant man originally charged with two counts of attempted murder has pleaded guilty to two fi***rm charges stemming from a March 1 shooting in Marshalltown.

Allen James Hart, 30, entered guilty pleas October 1 to two counts of reckless use of a fi***rm causing bodily injury, both Class D felonies. The court accepted the pleas October 2, according to reporting on court records.

Under the agreement, two attempted murder charges and one count of intimidation with a dangerous weapon — injure/provoke fear will be dismissed. Prosecutors will recommend a total prison sentence of 10 years, a $1,025 fine and victim restitution. Hart has not yet been sentenced.

The shooting happened around 4:15 a.m. in the 100 block of North 11th Avenue. Officers found two people with gunshot wounds, and two additional gunshot victims later arrived at the hospital. Gage Duane Gersema, 33, of Mount Pleasant, died. The three surviving victims were treated and released.

According to reporting on criminal complaints, Hart allegedly fired toward people inside the residence and also fired at two unarmed people outside. Neither of those two people outside was struck. As part of his plea, Hart admits that his reckless use of a fi***rm injured two people.

⚠️ GERSEMA’S DEATH REMAINS UNDER INVESTIGATION

Court records cited by the Times-Republican do not show evidence that Hart was suspected of playing any role in Gersema’s killing.

Marshalltown Police Chief Chris Jones told the newspaper that investigators continue working with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Marshall County Attorney’s Office as evidence comes in. Police are seeking Brent Aguilar, 21, as a material witness. He has not been identified as the person responsible for Gersema’s death.

Hart’s sentencing hearing is scheduled for November 16 at 9:30 a.m.
