The white crappie weighed in at 4.56 lbs. 45 years later and this record still stands. The record-breaking fish is mounted and displayed in the reception area at the Grimes Farm and Conservation Center. Ted Trowbridge served on the Marshall County Conservation Board from 1979-1985.

Thanks Harrison County. Something to think about when you are planting your gardens

What you plant this spring may determine what birds you have visiting this winter. These natives (along with native sunflowers, not just domestic) produce tons of seeds to get your birds through tough Iowa winters. Insects burrow into goldenrod to make galls that produce larva that feeds small woodpeckers like the downy. When planting, think of all the seasons your plants can benefit wildlife!
