🚨 We Need Your Help, Leander 🚨
Over the past few days, nearly a dozen vehicles in the parking lot of the Prep N Play Academy located at 1901 S Hwy 183, Leander, TX had their tires punctured by sharp metal devices known as caltrops.

Parents dropping off their children ran over these homemade, laser cut spikes, putting families at risk and causing significant damage.

These photos show the actual devices collected from the scene.
A caltrop is designed so that no matter how it lands, a sharp point always faces upward.

This is intentional. And dangerous.

If you saw anything suspicious in the area or have information that could help identify who is responsible, please contact Detective Hubbs:

Animal Services Officer Paige Kowalski was recently awarded the Chief’s Coin for her quick thinking and compassionate response during a pet microchipping event at the Leander Senior Activity Center on October 10. When an elderly woman fell and was injured, Officer Kowalski immediately stepped in to help. She retrieved her emergency bag, provided first aid, and carefully wrapped gauze around the woman’s wound.

Her calm, prepared, and caring actions ensured the woman received the attention she needed. Officer Kowalski’s initiative reflects her outstanding character and represents Leander Animal Services, and our department with pride.

Earlier this month, LPD Sgt. Tiffany Blase shared her powerful story with KXAN. Her story is one of courage, heartbreak, and unwavering strength.

After a year‑long battle, she finally rang the bell. Sgt. Blase is cancer free. Her journey is a reminder of the importance of awareness, support, and early detection. 💗

We had a blast at Leander's Spooktacular event over the weekend!

Sgt. Silva loved seeing all the ghouls, goblins, superheroes, and creative costumes that came out to celebrate.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by our LPD tent to say hello 🧡🖤

Think becoming a police officer starts at the academy? Think again.

Before our cadets ever step foot in a police academy, they must earn their spot through a demanding hiring process that includes:

✅ Physical fitness testing
✅ Standardized written exam
✅ Oral board interview
✅ Extensive background investigation
✅ Chief's interview

Why? Because our community deserves the very best.

A big thank you to Leander Crossfit for opening their doors and allowing us to use their facility for the rowing portion of our physical fitness test. We're grateful for your partnership and support.
