Shawnee Fire District recently received a generous $5,000 donation from Erie Insurance, which was used toward the purchase of nine new MSA Cairns 1836 fire helmets for our members.

Quality protective equipment is essential to keeping our firefighters safe while they’re serving our community, and investments like this help us continue providing our crews with the equipment they need without placing the entire financial burden on our district and taxpayers.

We are incredibly grateful to Erie Insurance for supporting local first responders and helping us protect those who protect our community.

This water rescue happened just feet outside of our district last night.

With the amount of rain our area has received recently, we cannot stress this enough: never attempt to drive through water covering the roadway.

It doesn’t matter if you know the road. It doesn’t matter if you’ve driven through water there before. You cannot see how deep it is, how strong the current may be, or whether the roadway underneath has been compromised.

A few extra minutes taking another route is always worth it. Turn around, don’t drown.
