Your Twin Valley South High School Basketball Programs are excited to announce we are kicking off the Oktoberfest festivities this year by hosting the West Alexandria Oktoberfest 5k Run/Walk!

Race day is Saturday October 10th @ 8:00 am, the race starts and finishes at Twin Valley South High School!

This is a timed event, medals for top 3 finishers in each specified age group.

Let's get a huge turnout for this event, you can run or walk the 5k.
Everyone is encouraged and welcome to participate!

A longtime mayor, business owner, Sunday school teacher, 4H leader and community volunteer whose service touched nearly every corner of West Alexandria will be among six people inducted into the Sara Swartsel Hall of Honor this fall.

She gave so much and is still missed—what an amazing honor for a life well lived.

WEST ALEXANDRIA — A longtime mayor, business owner, Sunday school teacher and community volunteer whose service touched nearly every corner of West Alexandria will be among six people inducted into the Sara Swartsel Hall of Honor this fall.

Carol Habekost Lunsford was one of West Alexandria’s Jill of all trades. Her
careers and accompanying achievements could have spanned several lifetimes.
Lunsford’s professional career was defined by her 58 years dedicated to her
Pin-Up Beauty Shoppe; 20 years as the mayor of West Alexandria; and 60 years as a
Sunday school teacher. Lunsford held memberships to numerous Preble County
organizations, including: Kiwanis, Coterie Club, West Alexandria Celebration
Committee, Caring Citizens Organization, Christmas in Our Village, Ole Fashioned
Jamboree, Preble County Mayors’ Association, Eaton Grange, Gleaners Chapter OES
#182, Ohio Gateway Development Council of Preble County, and the Council on Aging.
She also volunteered for the Preble County Pork Festival and as a literacy tutor
and emergency response team member. Lunsford’s commitment to her community
earned her numerous awards: 4-H Advisor of the Year; Dayton Daily News’ Top Ten
Women of the Miami Valley; Preble County Woman of the Year; Peacekeeper Award for
Preble County Women’s Shelter; and West Alexandria Citizen of the Year.
In her 81 years, Lunsford’s dedication to her community never wavered, and her
legacy lives on in all of the lives she improved. Carol is one of 6 being inducted into the 2026 Hall of Honor.
