This past Friday, one of our Dispatchers had the opportunity to participate in Career Day at St. Bartholomew Catholic School with the 7th and 8th grade classes.

Quentin had the honor of not only representing our dispatch center, but also representing his children who attend St. Bartholomew Catholic School. He spoke with students about the important role 911 dispatchers play in public safety and shared what it’s like to be the calm voice on the other end of the line during emergencies.

Our thoughts and prayers are with these officers, their families, their friends, and the entire Beech Grove Police Department during this tough time.

A message from Beech Grove Police Chief Michael Maurice:

"It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that today we lost one of our very own, Officer Brian Elliott. Officer Elliott, along with two other Beech Grove Police Department officers, was dispatched at 6:08 p.m. to the 100 block of Diplomat Court for a disturbance. After they arrived, Officer Elliott and another officer were shot. Both officers were rushed to Eskenazi Hospital, but despite the best lifesaving efforts by medical personnel, Officer Elliott succumbed to his injuries. The other officer, who we are not naming at this time, is currently in stable condition and is expected to survive.

My heart goes out to Brian’s wife, Erin, his parents, and all of his family, friends, and loved ones. At this time, I am asking that we lean on one another to get through this.

We are grateful to the team at Eskenazi Hospital, and our law enforcement and community partners for their extraordinary response and support."

Congrats to Brianna on being successfully released from her training. She is the newest member of the Bartholomew County Team!

She decided to come to Dispatch because her family comes from a law enforcement background. With her father as a state trooper and mother as a retired 911 Dispatcher, Brianna wanted to follow in their footsteps

Her Dispatch Goals are to be more comfortable with the process of daily operations and be the best she can be. She wants to learn as much as she can while helping the community and citizen of Bartholomew County. She has a goal of eventually becoming a trainer at our Facility to teach the new dispatchers that come in.

“Have Grace for those around you, you never know what someone is going through.” - Brianna

Today, we are proud to recognize two of our dispatchers for their critical, life-saving actions and outstanding professionalism.

On October 29, 2025, Cheri Hart suffered a cardiac arrest while driving on River Road, causing her vehicle to come to rest in a nearby yard. Bystanders immediately called 9-1-1, where our dispatchers quickly gathered vital information, provided guidance, and ensured first responders were sent without delay. Their calm, precise handling of the call set the entire response in motion.

Cheri was transported to CRH and has since made a full recovery.

This incident is a powerful example of how teamwork begins the moment a call is answered. The quick thinking and professionalism of our dispatchers, combined with the actions of officers, firefighters, EMS, and bystanders, truly made the difference. Great work to everyone involved—and thank you to Cheri for bringing us together for such a meaningful reason.
