Ever wonder where your recycling actually goes after you drop it off? At BCSWMD, everything collected from the Landfill, Recycling Center, and Convenience Stations is sent to Rumpke’s Cincinnati Materials Recovery Facility — where it’s sorted and shipped to trusted end‑users across the Midwest. As Rumpke puts it, “we are finding a good home for your recyclables” and “end users are companies that take the sorted material and turn it into products.”

Be aware there will be a detour to get to the Bartholomew County Landfill, 811 E 450 S, due to railroad repairs next week, Tuesday- July 28-Thursday- July 30. Please follow the detour routes.

🚧 Road Closure Notice – E County Road 450 South Railroad Crossing 🚧

Per the Bartholomew County Highway Department:

Louisville & Indiana Railroad Company has contracted Legacy Excavating, LLC to perform repairs at the East County Road 450 South railroad crossing. This work will require a full road closure for approximately 2 days.

📍 Closure Location:
E County Road 450 South railroad crossing, between South Jonesville Road and South County Road 50 West

🗓️ Closure Schedule:
🚧 Begins: Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at 6:00 AM
✅ Reopens: Thursday, July 30, 2026, at 6:00 AM

ℹ️ Additional Information:
• Access to local properties and the Bartholomew County Landfill will be maintained throughout the closure. Please follow the posted detour routes to reach these destinations.
• All other motorists are encouraged to use the signed detour and plan alternate routes.
• Emergency responders and the traveling public should allow extra travel time during the closure.
