The Cameron Parish Police Jury seeks applicants for a Road Crew position, reporting to the Hackberry Road & Bridge Foreman.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma (or GED) and a CDL license.
JOB REQUIREMENTS: Knowledge of general maintenance,
construction, equipment, occupational hazards;
ability to perform strenuous work, including heavy lifting, anticipate on call and respond to weather emergency events.
SALARY: $36,440-$52,690 annually.
JOB DUTIES:
• Receive and carry out oral and written job assignments.
• Assist facility maintenance crew with maintenance of Parish parks, piers, and boat launches.
• Perform Parish-owned sites’ landscaping work, such as mowing, clearing weeds and brush, and trimming trees.
• Operate motor graders, brooms, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, tractors, mowers, dump trucks, or similar equipment.
• Attend safety training sessions to learn and review safe work practices; read and review written safety instructions, and training materials; and apply safety knowledge learned to daily work practices.
• Work as part of a team; and develop and maintain cooperative work relationships with those contacted in the course of work including other crew members and the general public.
• Respond to declared and localized emergency situations during and outside regular working hours; and may be temporarily assigned the duties of specialty areas other than current area of assignment in emergency situations and for training purposes.
• Operate equipment or vehicles to improve sites or move materials.
• Remove debris or vegetation from work sites.
• Provide additional support to other Police Jury employees as needed.
