Happy Labor Day Folks! There is a Marginal Risk (level 1 out 5) for severe thunderstorm wind damage. While the forecast does not call for an outbreak of intense widespread convection, there will be decent instability to work with available Gulf moisture through late this afternoon. It is possible a few cells that develop could produce isolated wind damage from collapsing thunderstorm cores that create microbursts or strong outflows within the vicinity of the storms. Event coordinators and the general public celebrating the Labor Day Holiday with outdoor festivities are highly encourage to monitor latest forecast trends on radar and multiple ways to receive severe weather watches and warnings. Remember, When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors! Lightning can often strike up to 10 miles from a storm and in rare cases up to 25 miles which are commonly referred to as "bolts from the blue" as skies overhead may be clear around a nearby thunderstorm. Severe weather potential aside, it's gonna be hot folks. We do have an areawide heat advisory in place where Heat Index values may range as high as 110°F. So be sure to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in shade or preferably air conditioning if planning to be out during the daylight hours. Later this week, weak troughing along the coast will increase the potential for torrential downpours that could lead to some instances of Flash Flooding, Thursday and Friday.
