The Cameron Parish Port Harbor and Terminal District allows for product transport for industrial com

The West Cameron Port is situated as the port of entry to the Calcasieu Ship Channel in Southwest Louisiana. It is located on the Gulf of Mexico with the Calcasieu Ship Channel, the East Fork, and the Cameron Loop all located within its territorial limits. The territorial limits encompass Wards 3, 4, 5 and 6 of Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The Port is a major support contributor with a direct link t

o the oil and gas exploration and service industry. It is also home to several fleets of shrimp, crab, and other seafood harvesting operations. Two major LNG interests are currently located on waterways within the port with others in permitting stage. Primary cargo that flows through the port, much of which arrives or departs from the port’s territorial jurisdiction are: Baroid, Coal, Sweet and Sour Crude, LNG (expected to start within the District in 2015 at the Cheniere Sabine Pass LNG facility in Johnson Bayou, LA), Bulk Grain, Rice, and other support products for the petrochemical and oil and gas industry.

The facility will serve as a place where education, industry, government, and community can collaborate on LNG related education, research, and best practices. What better place for such a monumental facility than the epi-center of the LNG Industry right here in SWLA!!!

Great visit to Rabbit Island today to checkout the next project area for Coalition to Restore Coastal LouisianaThank you Cheniere Energy Inc.and Huck Marcantel for supplying a Marshland Equipment Rentals boat and Capt. Frankie Mock for getting us out there and back safely in the high winds today. The conversation was amazing about the importance of balance between industry and coastal conservation.
