Grand Lake High School Students and Parents,
Cheniere has partnered with the Lake Charles Memorial Hospital Foundation to provide Cameron Parish High School students with meaningful opportunities to explore career pathways and make informed decisions about their futures. Through the sponsorship of Ms. Stephanie Huck, Cameron Parish students are invited to participate in the Window to Healthcare Program. Volunteer Services at Lake Charles Memorial Hospital is excited about this partnership and looks forward to welcoming Cameron Parish students to this valuable career exploration experience.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare occupations are projected to grow much faster than the average for all occupations from 2023 to 2033, with approximately 1.9 million job openings expected annually due to industry growth and workforce replacement needs.
Volunteer Services at Lake Charles Memorial Health System (LCMHS) is pleased to offer students from Grand Lake High School in 11th and 12th grade the opportunity to participate in our Window to Healthcare Program. This educational program provides students with a structured one-day experience that includes tours of six healthcare departments. Each department hosts an approximately one-hour session featuring a presentation, career overview, and question-and-answer opportunity. The session being offered to Grand Lake High School students will be Wednesday, October 21, 2026 from 8:30am-4:30pm. Students will be provided transportation and field trip forms will be sent out once the accepted student roster is confirmed through LCMHS.
Through this experience, students gain valuable first hand exposure to the healthcare system while learning how both clinical and non-clinical departments work together to provide quality patient care. The program introduces students to a variety of healthcare careers and helps them better understand the educational pathways, skills, and qualifications required for success in the healthcare field.
Six Cameron Parish students participated in the program in 2025 and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Each tour can accommodate groups of up to 10 students per tour.
The student application packet will be available in the front office beginning Monday, September 14th and will be posted on the junior and senior Google classrooms as well. This packet contains three required forms that must be completed and signed by both the student and a parent or guardian. To be considered for participation, all completed forms and supporting documentation must be submitted to [email protected] by the application deadline of Thursday, September 30th. Early application is highly preferred, so please aim to complete the paperwork as soon as possible. There are many more career opportunities within hospital systems than just becoming a nurse or a doctor. See the attached flyer for participating health systems departments.
