📚🚔 FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER: McNEESE POLICE EDITION — #6! 💙💛

Next up in our series is Officer Sam Kayal!

Officer Kayal is starting his 4th year at McNeese and brings 17 years of law enforcement experience to our department. One of his favorite parts of the job is helping students — especially teaching them how to jump a dead battery or change a tire so they’ll know how to do it themselves next time. 🚗🛠️

A few things to know about Sam:

💪 If he’s not working, there’s a good chance he’s at the gym.
🍽️ His favorite campus spot is the cafeteria because, in his words, “Love to eat!” 😂
👋 You’ll probably hear “Hey Boss!” at least once.
🪵 He enjoys woodworking and says he could see himself as either an attorney or a woodworker if he weren’t a police officer.
🐶 And despite the muscles, he’s a small-dog guy — Yorkie and Jack Russell! 😂

This semester, Sam is focused on finishing strong as he works toward his graduate degree. 🎓👏

And when he grows up? He has two options: Police Chief 🚔 or owning an animal shelter where he can rescue as many animals as possible. 🐾💙

📚🚔 FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER: McNEESE POLICE EDITION — #5! 💙💛

Next up in our series is Police Lieutenant Erin Willis!

Lt. Willis has been part of McNeese for 13.5 years and has 18 years in law enforcement and public safety. Her favorite part of the job is simple: building relationships with students. 💙

Of course, there’s a little more to know about her… 😂

💡 If you hear “I have an idea…” everyone in the office knows something is probably about to happen.
😂 And if she doesn’t actually SAY what she’s thinking, don’t worry — her face will.
🥤 Alani Nu is the caffeine of choice.
🛳️ Cruising and traveling are always on the agenda.
🧁 She loves baking and cooking.
🐴 And something you might not expect? She grew up around horses and cattle!

If she weren’t in law enforcement, she’d probably be a full-time travel advisor, preferably working from somewhere on a cruise ship. 🛳️

And when she grows up?

Retired and traveling the world. 🌎😂

This semester, Lt. Willis is looking forward to finding even more ways for McNeese Police to connect with students and make campus safety something the entire campus community feels a part of.

Now the real question is… how long before she says, “I have an idea…” again? 👀💡😂

📞🎧🚔 FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER: McNEESE POLICE EDITION — #4! 💙💛

We’ve met some of the officers behind the badge, but McNeese Police wouldn’t be complete without the voices behind the radio and the phone!

Meet Communications Officer 3 Becki Pettefer! 🎧

Becki has been part of McNeese for 16 years, and one of her favorite things about working in Dispatch is having the ability to hide her facial expressions while answering some of your questions on the phone. 😂📞

A few more things you should know about Becki:

☕ Coffee or hot tea is always a good idea.
🌱 Gardening is her happy place.
🏔️ If you talk to her long enough, there’s a good chance you’ll hear, “When I lived in Alaska…” 😂
👵 And yes — she’s a grandma!
🚜 If she weren’t sitting behind the radio at MSUPD, she’d probably be running her own farm.

And when Becki finally grows up? She’s already decided…

She’s going to be a farmer! 🌱🚜😂

Until then, we’re pretty happy to have her keeping our officers connected and helping take care of our McNeese community from Dispatch. 💙💛

🏁🚔 FIRST DAY OF THE SEMESTER: McNEESE POLICE EDITION — #3! 💙💛

Our First Day of the Semester series is rolling right along, and third up is Investigator Kristopher Shaw!

Investigator Shaw has been at McNeese for 8.5 years and has 10 years in law enforcement. His favorite part of the job? Interacting with our students and faculty.

But when he’s not patrolling campus or being just a little sarcastic 😉, there’s a good chance you’ll find him around a dirt track! 🏁

🏎️ He started dirt track racing at just 14 years old — and still races today!
🔧 If he weren’t in law enforcement, he’d probably be a mechanic.
👻 Ghost Energy keeps him going.
🎸 Linkin Park makes the playlist.
😂 And apparently, law enforcement is only temporary…because when he grows up, he plans to be a race car driver!

This semester, Investigator Shaw is looking forward to new challenges and new training opportunities for our students, faculty, and officers.

We started at the top with Chief Scheufens, and now it’s time to introduce the second member of our First Day of the Semester series — Sgt. Stephanie Bryant!

With 24 years in law enforcement and nearly 8 years at McNeese, Sgt. Bryant says her favorite part of the job is getting to interact with our students. 💙

But there’s a LOT more to know about her! 👀

🏍️ She’s a biker girl.
⚜️ She’s a Saints fan AND a Cowboy fan.
🐸 Anything Disney is a win.
😴 And apparently, if she weren’t a cop, there’s a pretty good chance you’d find her DEEP under those sheets asleep. 😂

The McNeese State University Police Department extends its heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dr. John Noble.

Dr. Noble was a dedicated supporter of McNeese State University and a proud member of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. Through his service and leadership, he worked tirelessly to support higher education and strengthen opportunities for students across Louisiana.

His commitment to McNeese and the University of Louisiana System left a lasting impact that will be felt for years to come. Dr. Noble's leadership, generosity, and dedication to public service will not be forgotten.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to his family, friends, fellow Board members, and all who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside him. He will be greatly missed.
