The 49th annual Austin CROP Hunger Walk was a resounding success, featuring music, entertainment, activities, and over 300 participants united in solidarity with food-insecure neighbors both locally and globally. Rick Santos, CEO of CWS, joined us over the weekend, meeting with Team Captains for lunch on Saturday, speaking at First United Methodist Church of Austin, and expressing gratitude and appreciation at the Walk. We extend our sincere gratitude to all sponsors, volunteers, and donors who contributed to the success of this event. Sunday's the big day. Lots of info in this Walk day checklist:

Security: heightened security at Camp Mabry; lots of National Guard soldiers along the roadway.

Traffic: Guess what? There is road work going on near Mabry (hey, it's Austin!). There may be spots where traffic lanes merge -- so if possible, you may want to allow a few extra minutes to make your way to Mabry.

Entry/Parking: please enter Camp Mabry via the 35th St. Entrance. Remember: Photo ID is required for all persons 18 years and older. "Austin CROP Walk" are the magic words for entry.

Camp Mabry has allocated three lots for Walk parking:
- the small lot near the grandstand
- the lot across the street to the right of the grandstand
- the large lot, to the left, just past the track.

Registration: only unregistered walkers need to check in at the Registration Tent.

Funds: if you have checks and/or cash please hand in those funds at the Registration Tent. Post-event, contact our Walk Treasurer, Nancy Ebert, to arrange for pick-up of funds: [email protected]

Timeline: Registration - 1:30 pm; Gathering Ceremony - 2:00 pm; Step-off 2:30 pm.

Weather: Lots of sun; maybe some clouds; and there is always a breeze (well, it can be windy) at Mabry. Sunscreen is a very good idea!

Water/Snacks: in an effort to minimize our environmental footprint, the Walk does not provide bottled water. There will be water and lemonade available along with snacks as you complete the walk.
