As International Overdose Awareness Day approaches, BPUSA stands with THRA in remembering the lives lost to overdose and in recognizing the importance of harm reduction within the reentry community.
People navigating reentry can face increased overdose risk, especially after periods of incarceration when tolerance may be lower. Naloxone, education, and judgment-free support save lives.
Carry naloxone. Know how to use it. Look out for one another. Everyone deserves the opportunity to come home, rebuild, and stay here. 💚
This year, people we love died of an overdose.
Not a statistic. Not a stranger. Someone who sat in our Drop-In Center and brought us joy. Someone our outreach team knew by name and loved. Someone whose laugh we can still hear. Someone whose name is still etched on our porch.
THRA staff carried losses that no report can capture. August 31 is International Overdose Awareness Day, 25 years and still remembering.
