The KidStart Holiday Hampers Campaign is underway and thanks to your generosity, we've already raised $1,137.15! Thank you to everyone who contributed so far!

For KidStart families experiencing financial hardship, we understand this time of year brings extra stress with the high cost of groceries and essentials. With your support, we can help ease some of that pressure and bring a little extra joy to the season.

Every donation, big or small, makes a difference. Here's how your gift can help:

💙 $50 helps provide a grocery gift card so families can purchase fresh food.

Our KidStart mentors and mentees celebrated the fall season by visiting pumpkin patches in their community 🧡🐦‍⬛ Here are some clips from our trip to Southlands Heritage Farm!

We love being able to put on group events like these! Not only does it give us a chance to see the impact of our program but it’s also a fun and exciting new activity for the mentees 🎃🍂🐴

💙Thankful Thursday!💙

We want to give a big "Thank You!" to The Giving Truck for donating over 50 Halloween goodie bags for our mentees over the weekend! They loved having some treats to enjoy while exploring the pumpkin patch on their outing. Thank you again for making this event extra special for our participants!

KidStart's Holiday Hampers Campaign is back for 2026! 💝

As we approach the holiday season, what should be a time of joy, can be a stressful time for many families. With the rising cost of living, it can be a challenging time.

Each year, PLEA and KidStart create Holiday Hampers for families in our program who are facing financial hardship. These hampers are filled with non-perishable food items, essentials, and new toys for children and youth.
These hampers help create special holiday memories and remind the families that their community cares.

💙 Mentor Monday: Meet Ashlyn! 💙

Ashlyn is one of our amazing KidStart mentors who says her favorite part of mentoring is being a “big buddy” and supporting her mentee along the way.

Here’s what else Ashlyn shared with us:

🌟 Her role model is her mom! Ashlyn says her mom always set a great example for her so she wanted to be just like her when she grew up.

💫 She enjoys getting to grow a bond with her mentee and learning and doing the things that her mentees loves to do.

🌟Why she mentors: “I’ve always loved helping people, and I want to have a career helping kids. Being able to volunteer and do this now is so fulfilling, and I’m grateful for this experience.”

Thank you, Ashlyn, for showing up, sharing your time and being such a great big buddy! We’re so happy to have you as part of the KidStart community. 💙

🧡 Every Child Matters.

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day. It's a day to honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, Survivors, their families and communities.

This day offers an opportunity to learn about the history and ongoing impacts of residential schools, recognize the experiences and resilience of Survivors, and consider our shared responsibility to support truth and reconciliation.

We encourage everyone to:
🧡 Wear orange
🧡 Take part in local commemorative events
🧡 Learn about the history and legacy of residential schools

May we continue working toward a future where every child is treated with dignity, respect and care.
